I'm designing my own 'combat board' similar to this -

The problem with doing something really stupid to impress people is that they may just be impressed by how stupid you really are.

Interesting item.
We roll our initiative dice and leave them laying in front of the characters sheets (or by the monster figures for GM-run combatants). If we have a bonus or penalty, we'll roll the die to the correct number, or even sub a larger die to represent the adjusted roll. As each character and/or monster acts, we remove their dice; when all the dice have been picked up, the round is over and we roll again.
Works great if you have enough dice, and believe me, we have enough dice.
