Monster cards

I have been surfing around and found some Monster Cards over at Dragonsfoot that you can customize but I am baffled over the Attack Rolls section - what are these numbers and where are they getting them from? I know they were originally designed for Labyrinth Lord so is that something specific to that game or am I just missing the blatantly obvious here?

That is how Basic D&D (and Labyrinth Lord) handled combat rolls. Each class (and monsters) have a table that requires looking up to see what roll is needed to hit what AC.I suppose you could say this is a more "historically accurate" way of doing combat.
Thac0 grew out of this. To use Thac0 instead of writing down an attack table with 10 entries you look up what value your character needs to hit an AC of 0 and just write that down. Then when you attack you can use (Thac0 - attack roll) to tell you what AC you hit.
IMO the way 3.5, 4th, and Basic Fantasy do things is much easier to handle, less math, no negative numbers.
The
Labyrinth Lord book is free though so if you are interested download it and take a look at page 60 which has the attack charts.

Aah. Thanks. That makes sense. I had been looking through the LL rulebook but missed that table.

The 1st edition of AD&D had 4 sets of monster cards also.
I have been toying with the idea of a solo dungeon using
either the back of the the 1st edition DM guide or the article
from the Strategic Review to create a random dungeon.
And a set of homemade monster cards shuffled and drawn
for encounters.
I still thinking about how to handle random encounters.

second stack of 'random encounter' cards? Might also be a way to handle the trap issue.

Not a bad idea!(Light bulb flashing over head...)

I'm not sure what the licensing terms are but the ones I downloaded had some 'blank' template cards which I was messing around with to make my own. Some BFRPG cards would be awesome!

Well, for BFRPG cards the Attack Rolls section could be cut and the "Treasure" title could be moved left a bit as I found I could have used more room to record the treasure type(s).
Other than that I think they are pretty good.
