Unarmed attack: Request clarification

I am a bit confused about something and I was hoping for some guidance.
I am aware of the brawling rules (punch 1d3/kick 1d4 -2 attack ... damage = subduing).
But I noticed in the Third Level Pregenerated Characters supplement that unarmed attack was listed as 1d2.
I also found a post that refers to 1d2 for punch as being part of the core rules.
Can someone clarify?

Can you list which supplement you're referring to? I didn't find any 3rd level pregenerated character supplement on the downloads page.
I'd guess that there might be a modification for halflings. I'd expect them to do less damage than a large human or strong dwarf. Without knowing which supplement you're talking about it's hard to tell.

1-Its houseruled
2-Its an error
You can post the question in the supplement thread or wait until Teaman sees this post
for the post, can't say anything w/out looking at the post itself, but any of the above theories works for this.

Looking over the material this definitely seems to be a case of houseruling unarmed combat. The core rules give 1d3 or 1d4 damage for a punch or kick, regardless of race/class. Can a little halfling thief hit as hard as a large human fighter? Probably not, and therefore it may make sense to modify the results. (Let a toddler kick you in the shin, though, and you may find out that size and age are less important than you thought.) The supplement has unarmed combat damage ranging from a single point up to 1d2+2 points, which is more than a dagger does on average!
My personal take: unless unarmed combat comes up frequently breaking it it down past 1d3/1d4 damage is over-complicating things. If your DM has you captured (and you have to escape empty-handed) it's unlikely they'll give you such a hard time to get your hands on some weapons that the difference matters. Of course, if your campaign involves a lot of sporting kickboxing matches to impress royalty, this could be pretty relevant.

That's due to STR modifiers, having less than STR 9 gives penalty to unarmed damage and being 0 the minimum damage done it was converted to 1pt.
Those with 1d2+2 and 1d2+1 have STR bonus of +2 and +1 respectively.

But is Subdual Damage, so, a dagger its deadlier stil.

Teaman did report back in the supplement thread that this was not intended to be house ruled and he will update the supplement to be inline with the core rules.
