I tried a lot of different game rules over the last three and a fraction decades, and came back to the five standard saves.

I originally went to BFRPG for the price, and stayed for the flexibility.
Don't like 5 saves? Do you prefer the 3 saves from the d20 srd? Great! There's a supplement for that.
