We getting to talk about what we've played/run?

Rifts, Star Wars WEG 2E, AD&D 2E, and then a long time until a few years ago with retroclones. Along with wading through all of those before settling on the few I play now I've added Star Wars WEG 1 and 2E, Fate Care/Accelerated and GURPS.

For those new to BFRPG, welcome to our little corner! This is without doubt the friendliest group I've been around, and I'm proud to have contributed in a very small way. I hope you'll do the same, we welcome it.

I certainly did, at least back in the day. I haven't kept up in years after seeing the new trilogy once and have ignored the whole EU. I haven't watched the original trilogy in years either, and that's hard to believe since I used to watch at least one of the movies at least weekly. Not sure what to think about the upcoming Abrams films (as also a Trekkie that's a whole other thread ) but for now will just focus on other universes that frankly deserve more attention right now.

Yeah, I don't really care for Star Wars either. At least not anymore. I thought the Phantom Menace was passable (though hardly good), but I lost interest at Attack of the Clones.

I have the entire Clone Wars animated series which I liked.

Of the more recent films I liked Episode I well enough. The other two, in my opinion, were utter dreck.

Speaking plainly, however, as someone who saw Star Wars in the theater when it first came out, the series was ruined with Return of the Jedi. Lucas obviously bowed to the public's speculation at the time that Vader was telling the truth to Luke about being his father. Anyone watching the two first films in the theater when they came out and had half a functioning brain knew, as a matter of course, that Vader was lying. Return of the Jedi ruined the series and made it nigh on impossible to write a prequel trilogy that made any sense at all.

Well, you had to be into the whole Star Wars thing at the time and keeping up with the rampant speculation about what the third installment was going to be about. Seemed like every magazine around had an article about what they thought the third episode would be. Some outlandish, some typical, some satirical.
I think Lucas saw the trend in the articles leaning toward Vader really telling the truth about being Luke's dad and went for it. Big mistake. Lucas is an awesome producer. A legend. Lucas is also a great director and has an enormous vision. Just don't let Lucas write a screenplay. Not his forte.
