Re: Welcome to the Basic Fantasy RPG Forums!
welcome Robb. Your game looked like fun, but your players won't survive much the way they play like a bunch of individuals instead of a party depending on each other for survival.

Re: Welcome to the Basic Fantasy RPG Forums!
Hi everyone new person to the forums (actually made a post a few weeks ago). Let's see I am an aspie, I am playing this system with my school game club, our DM refuses to read the rules despite us building characters and having decided to use this system rather than pay money.

Narrow minded. Not an uncommon problem. Good luck!

Good luck with the game. I hope the new DM gets on board, because it defeats the purpose of rules light gaming if you try to play it like you do 3.5.

Re: Welcome to the Basic Fantasy RPG Forums!
The main problem was that he is trying to do it all from his memories of D and D and still refers to it as D and D. We had a person come in the week after we were introducing character creation with a 4e character that the DM had helped him create. The DM is not a bad guy he just hasn't checked the difference between D and D and this. Now he is tutoring another student to be our third DM (I am the backup) for a daylong tourney. The main thing is that he has read maybe 4 pdfs. The Beginner's Essentials, Necromancer Supplement, and the Alternate Races. I don't blame him but I didn't plan to DM, I just was the only person with the time to read the full rules.

In fairness this is a retroclone so it's... fairly D&D. In terms of the rules it is more than it isn't, even if it's also definitely its own animal.
Using a 4e character is still an inexcusably poor fit though.

Re: Welcome to the Basic Fantasy RPG Forums!
Hello all. Just joined the forums and thought I would post an intro. I have played many games in my short life but was never able to get around to classic fantasy type game. Dnd 3.5 and up never really appealed to me for some reason maybe because I came in through some more rules lite systems.
Anyway I recently came across your fine product and have to say I am very excited about the notion of getting down to some good clean fun.
Sadly I have no groups in my current location. I was wondering if any of the PbPs were looking for replacements/new players, or if anyone was interested in starting anew?
Just now am reading through the rulebook but it looks like I should have my feet under me by the weekend.
Thanks, and thanks for the game!
