The cost of CD-Rs aren't really that bad ($17 for 100) its the time/effort it takes to burn and label them, especially if you are talking about a little booklet to go in the jewel box. Cheaper and easier to just slip them in a paper sleeve ($5 for 100 or go crazy and get 1000 for $15 lol)

True.. And I don't have a CD/ DVD burner (joys of a notebook).

Here's the text for the 'general' version of the recruitment slip - just copy and paste over the other one:

"So, you’re looking to slay some dragons, pilfer some gold, or maybe your sword is just thirsty for the blood of your enemies? Perhaps you’re just looking for a gaming group and a good time? Fear not! Basic Fantasy RPG is free to download and play - the core rules are available for free at www.basicfantasy.org.
If you’re interested, just contact the person in the contact box for more info/ when the next session is!"
You are in a tavern, and the tavern is without beer. What is your action?

I'll just jump in here and say that the CD idea is a great one! Back in the day when I had friends and time for such silliness, we used to get together once a month or so and play LAN shooters. I made a bunch of CDs with the games we'd play on our old computers, and I dropped a few at the local bookstore with an email address. I got several new people to the LAN parties that way. So I think that would be awesome to do that with BF. Drop a few CDs around at game stores or comic shops or whatever. Hand a few out at conventions as prizes. Awesome!

A few years ago, I burned a cd load of the rules, supplements, and the morganfort setting. I included the bfrpg.org url in a text file along with a copy of the Main page statement of what Basic Fantasy was. I did a stack of 50 (I was using a lightscribe burner also) to etch the logo and name on the cd itself then I went to a convention (I rarely have time to go to them). I didn't do a pamphlet or envelope, just a bare cd.

The play area was an open space with lots of tables so I left the spindle of cd's sitting on my table as we played. Got lots attention and the cd's went fast (I had a free to a gamers home card sitting in front of them also).
