Hi
New to this forum but not new to roleplaying, I have a question, I noticed that the Basic Fantasy Roleplaying game is a OGL, does this mean I can make games using the BFRG system and then publish them? Does it also mean I can modify the rules to fit a setting?
Sorry if this question has been asked a million times before I have just got here and I am kinda interested.

Thanks.

You absolutely can create and publish materials based on the Basic Fantasy RPG. The Product Identity License in the back of the book details how you may use the name, which is the only thing I hold back.

In particular, if you create a modified version of the rules, you may NOT publish it as actually being the "Basic Fantasy Role-Playing Game" as that would violate my Product Identity. You'd have to rename it. However, you COULD say that your modified rules are "Compatible with the Basic Fantasy RPG" as detailed in the Product Identity license.

I am a believer in sharing, and I encourage everyone who creates materials for the game to share as I do. It's why we have so much good stuff... we collect it, and together we edit and decorate (add art) and combine smaller works into larger books and get them in print at or very near to cost, with the PDFs always free.

If you feel that you must make money from a Basic Fantasy-related product, that's your right, so long as you carefully follow the OGL terms. But let me encourage you to join us and share your work so we can all benefit.
