Here in a few paychecks, I'll be rounding up the necessary books, boxes, artwork, flier and etc. needed to make a good mockup Black Box. So probably come mid to late September, I'll be showing off the pics here. And keep bugging me about it please, Keep the flame under by butt!

Against my better judgment, I've requested a quote from a company that makes game boxes. I'll get back with you all after I get the info.

If I do a boxed set, it would be the Core Rules, Morgansfort, and Chaotic Caves. It's a starter set, guys; the Field Guide, while nice, is less useful to a newbie than more adventure materials are. Of all of our in-print items, the level span of those two works is most consistently low-level... and they fit well together.

Add in dice and at least 8 character sheets and we're there.

Would it work out better to have 6 pregens and 1 blank sheet and maybe a doublesided sheet of commonly used charts?

*Initiates the slow clap for Solomoriah* I actually didn't think you would do that since this was going to be more of a personal give-away project, but awesome!

After I know what it would cost to produce the boxed sets, I'll add my labor costs (estimated, of course) and consider one or another funding sites (Kickstarter, for instance). If I think I can make it worth doing, I might actually do it.

If they get done, I'm totally picking them up. Like... Quite a few. I plan to hand them out at cons and knowing they are official merch is perfect!

I got quotes from a couple of box-makers; the pricing is wildly variable, and not really cost-effective unless I buy a bunch of them.

Unless someone points out a reasonably-priced vendor, this project lies dead on the dungeon floor. Somebody loot its pockets...
