Plans, and other works of fiction

Post Tue Sep 07, 2010 3:30 pm

Okay, I think my focus is coming back. It's time to move some things forward.

I wanted to have the Almanack in print by now. Obviously not going to happen. There's too much to work on there yet, too much cutting and fitting and so on. Likewise, I'd like to see a print copy of the Field Guide, but first someone has to find all the missing monsters... I'm not even sure WHAT is missing.

So I'm going for the low-hanging fruit here. I'm going to continue to work on Wandering Monsters, because I think it'll be pretty handy. I'm also going to figure out what's missing from BF2 Fortress, Tomb, and Tower; I've finally run the Tomb of Karsma Megalos, and it rocked, so there's nothing else that needs playtesting. I know I'll have to get the maps for Crooked Rock Tower done and in there, but that's a job of finite difficulty (the hardest part being finding the hand-drawn maps, and I think I know where they are).

The first Adventure Anthology is also in this category, though perhaps not as "low hanging" as the others listed above. I need to get the various mini-modules into a single module layout, standardize some of the maps, and maybe get some artwork in there. Since mini-modules aren't dropping into my Inbox every other week like they used to, this is another "finite" job (and even if some more get submitted it's no big thing).

Anyway, just spouting off here. Open to suggestions, as always.

I know sometimes it is hard to do, but try to focus on one project at a time. Get it done, and cleared from the que. Since there are so many projects in various levels of completeness, pick one and go for it. The Wandering Monsters supplement seems to have caught your fancy right now. I say go with that.

My focus doesn't work like that... it goes wherever it wants.

I found the maps, though.

Interest, Focus, and importantly TIME, must all be in place for productive work to occur (at least for me). Lately I seem to be lacking all three in varying degrees. My current ambition is to get material together for a good Conjurer class... another bad-guy sort of class, intended for GM use, but possible for player use in the right sort of campaign (much like the GraveMaster/Necromancer).
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

Today: Worked on Wandering Monsters some, not ready to put it out just yet. Also started assembly on Adventure Anthology One, which will contain AA1.1 through 1.8. I can see there's a lot of rough stuff to clean up in there still, but I think it's time to start assembling it.
