Im new to the game

Hile,I am very new to table-top rpg's, but I have a love for virtual rpg's. Although, I would love to play basic fantasy for it's involvement of a personal experience and creativity. Unfortunally, many lack patience to play them and shun it as nerdy or would rather play video games. This brings the question of if there are any active members in Maryland or by virtual communication to be able to play the game with someone.
