What are you listening to/watching/reading?
Re: What are you listening to/watching/reading?
I started to watch Bakshi's WIZARDS. Not sure that I will be able to get through it.
Anyone else familiar with that movie?

I haven't seen that, but I am familiar with his animated Lord of the Rings.

This one is MUCH weirder. It was done a couple years earlier.

I'm already interested. I'll check it out.teaman wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 6:40 pmListen to Maynard Ferguson's version too. When he's playing his trumpet, there's no where else to be.Sir Daggerford wrote: ↑Thu Dec 06, 2018 2:56 am I respect that stance. It's definitely hard to do the legacy of Queen justice, regardless of the effort put in.
I'll check that cover out. I'm always in the mood to hear new renditions of songs I enjoy.
Also, I'm currently listening to: "Birdland" by Weather Report. As far as I'm concerned, it's hard to go wrong with a little bit of classic jazz fusion to wind down the evening.
Unless you are playing BFRPG, of course.

Now I'm listening to Maynard of course!
It's been too long since I've heard his version of the Star Trek Theme.

Listening to: "Rain" by Rob Scallon. I find tranquility in this song. After a long, stressful day, it's nice to relax a bit.

Re: What are you listening to/watching/reading?
Reading "The Fall of Gondolin" by Tolkien. I REALLY enjoyed the first, long version, though some of the old English was a difficult slog.
And I would 100% recommend "The Children of Hurin." It is the Turin Turambar story told as a coherent short novel. Of the three recent books Christopher Tolkien put out, that's the best. The last scene where Hurin finds his wife is really touching, well beyond geeky fantasy.
I think it is too bad the Christopher Tolkien never wrote more coherent stories in his father's realm, or allowed other authors (carefully chosen) to do so.

AND, the reason he did it was to, in his words "make a family-friendly film".

Anyone who sees Elinore for two seconds in "Wizards" would have to question Bakshi on that. Must've been because it was the 70's.ThorinSchmidt wrote: ↑Sat Feb 02, 2019 6:12 pmAND, the reason he did it was to, in his words "make a family-friendly film".
