Converting LL stuff to BFRPG

Post Wed Apr 02, 2014 6:03 pm

Hey all,

I am a fairly new DM only having run some Pathfinder and a little bit of Labyrinth Lord, but have now stumbled upon and fell in love with BFRPG. I am looking to run Stonehell Dungeon (for Labyrinth Lord) mixed with Morgansfort for a home base. I am still in the early prep stages, but need some advice from you guys. Is there anything major I need to watch for when running Labyrinth Lord stuff with BFRPG besides flipping AC? Also, do I subtract descending AC from 20 or 19 for Basic Fantasy? Thanks in advance guys!

Not really :) --assuming you're talking just LL and not the AEC. But...
  • Monster XP is different. In BF it's inflated. If you're using the XP from a LL module, consider awarding XP for GP. Some modules include the bonus XP already in the stat block.
  • In BF spell transcription costs money. In LL it's free and can copy from scrolls. So stock treasure appropriately.
  • BF uses individual initiative and spells do not need to be declared at the beginning of the round; plus it does not explicitly forbid moving and casting on the same turn. It's more like PF in that way.
  • Some of the spells are a little different, like Web is more 1e-ish; not really a conversion issue, but just to note.

I totally hand wave that in my BFRPG games. :)

First, GREAT CHOICE of adventure and system!! My next campaign is going to be Stonehell I & II with BFRPG. I have never run Forgotten Realms, so I am setting it there. As soon as Stonehell II is out, I am starting.

LL conversion 20-AC. I would not worry about the rest. I would use BFRPG for XP.
