Modern sensibilities: separate races and classes, ascending armor class

A strong Basic foundation: rules where needed, GM leeway everywhere else. Sensible lists of spells, monsters and treasures.

Accessibility: All files free to download; many (most of the core ones) also available in source text files as well. Print copies very affordable (cheap enough on Lulu, even better via Amazon).

I started with other retroclones, and I am still a fan of a few besides BFRPG. However, it's the one I will always recommend to those looking for something to play that's easy to learn, affordable to share and most importantly FUN. :)

I wonder what happened to the original poster? Was he really looking for an answer?

There's been a number of new posters lately; did we get exposed? ;)

A handful of people, myself included, plugged BFRPG over on ENWorld on a thread about "what is your favorite retro clone".

There has been a few of us running BFRPG on the roll20 site and I have this site posted in a few threads there. I'm also starting up one shot sessions and running people through them so I will probably be using more of the modules here for limited run sessions.
Knights of the Written Word 2 is a friendly Roll20 community created for those that prefer written text games or have difficulty with voice games (for physical, mental, emotional, or technical reasons).
