I would check Dragonsfoot for 1E or OSRIC sheets.

The 1e AD&D is one part nostalgia, one part inspiration. I've already been poking around in the books, and it's a great peek into Sir Gygax's imagination. I'm amazed at the footnote sized fonts in these books, if they used modern typesetting the texts would easily double in size.

For clarity of reading, is why I was interested in the S&W white box. I have PDF's of the LBB's, but they are so clunky to really be unusable.

Looking at these two gives me that much more confidence in BFRPG though. Not to trumpet the bandwagon too much, I know I've been fairly vocal in my support already. It just really gels well that we have a nice workable version of B/X sans attack tables.
Yes I still have a copy of the 1E DMG; the amount of inspiration in that book has never and likely will never be matched. It is quite scary how large that book would be at a more decent font size. ;)

S&W WB is a very tight compact core of rules. I do like the single savings throws and being able to use the ascending armor class; the D6 damage for all weapons was for me an oddity at first, but now I like using it for S&W/OD&D games. This game does demand house rules or making stuff up on the fly, which is sometimes nice and sometimes exhausting. ;)

Reading these other rulesets does cement my personal preference in B/X-based games as the sweet spot, and b/w BFRPG and LL I can find my perfect set of rules.

No reason you couldn't.

My books are at the post office waiting for pickup, but I'm snowed in right now. :(

Hehe. I'm thinking I'm going to use that little skit at the back of the Holmes book to run a PbP. The maps and NPC's are already there.

I'm still waiting for mine but things tend to take awhile to get over the border.
The problem with doing something really stupid to impress people is that they may just be impressed by how stupid you really are.

Glad to hear everyone get their items. :)

Perhaps in the not-too-distant future there may be a need to do this again........
