Community Adventure Generation
So I was reading about the forums efforts while I was gone when I came across the House of Coldarius. It was cool to see the community put together a dungeon themselves so I thought maybe we could try making another adventure/dungeon in this thread.
To start off I have a map (link below), and I was thinking maybe we could make this an adventure/dungeon for use with the Character Funnel (viewtopic.php?f=19&t=603). If we don't use the character funnel then it could an adventure of any level really.
So anyone interested in doing this?

Sure why the heck not.. I am not sure what we can or can't throw at characters in a funnel dungeon.. I was actually going to ask that in the funnel thread..

I was thinking monstrous insects, kobolds, giant rats, normal men (and elves, and dwarves, etc), a single 1st level fighter or MU, that sort of thing.dymondy2k wrote:Sure why the heck not.. Also, for the record, I don't like the way the map was keyed. I was thinking we could change that later when the map gets remade as BF map. I was also thinking maybe that long dead-end tunnel at the bottom could be an entrance.

Another thought I just had. The hallway north of room 6 didn't originally dead-end, its since been bricked over by whatever dwells in the northern part of the dungeon. Maybe a tribe of monsters did it so room 5 could be used as a guard chamber/choke point? In any case it offers the PC's a chance to make their own entrance if they wanted.

Re: Community Adventure Generation
If this'll be a funnel module, it might be a good idea to have one (or even several) reasons why 12-20 zero-level commoners have decided to go somewhere as dangerous as a dungeon. One funnel rationale I've heard was (literally) that a hole in the ground opened up and swallowed the party whole. I think we can do a bit better than that, however.
In my funnel dungeon, I had the players' village held hostage by a band of vicious bandits, who wanted a priceless artifact found in the local dungeon. The bandits themselves are too cowardly to risk their hides in the dungeon, however, and so have coerced the villagers into sending some of their own under the earth. Perhaps something similar here?
One other reflection on funnel design: I think it'd be good to have a few cheap/quick deaths near each entrance to the dungeon. 12-20 characters is a lot of characters to track; killing off three or four in the first quarter of an hour helps make things more manageable.

I like it, I like it a lot. You could call the adventure something like The Outlaws Prize. That has a nice ring to it.AncientToaster wrote:In my funnel dungeon, I had the players' village held hostage by a band of vicious bandits, who wanted a priceless artifact found in the local dungeon. Alright lets try and revive this thread (maybe this post will wake some of you up, been quiet round here).
The Outlaws Prize
The Premise:
A group of bandits recently came across a treasure map detailing the location of a (insert treasure here). After finding the dungeon they try to enter but are driven off by monsters. Being cowards at heart they decide to get someone else to do their dirty work and so stage a raid upon a nearby village. Capturing the villages elder/fairest maiden/healer they demand that the villagers enter the dungeon and find the treasure in return for the captives safe return. Hilarity ensues.
How does that sound to you guys? Also what exactly was the dungeon before it became a dungeon?
Edit
And here is the map with a few suggested changes.

Alternative reasoning for commoners to go into that dungeon. Have some kids dissappear and make them think they went into the dungeon. Seeking cover from a sudden storm, they went in to it on a dare, even have them kidnapped and took to the dungeon for some evil reason like a ritual.
