artikid is neglecting to mention that he sent it to me first, and I told him to put it in the Showcase.
This is not a business. Peer review is not required. If I give you a Showcase account upgrade, I trust you. I expect you to put only complete, ready-for-playtesting materials there, and that is precisely what artikid did. Even if I had not told him to do it, I'd be defending him.
Now, peer review is good. I'm not saying it isn't. But I'll admit, I often wonder why Showcase authors spend all their time working in the Workshop... is this, then, the reason?

I like it, the creation of holly water was on my "wish list" for this document. I was thinking on a different approach, based on the level of the Cleric he can bless a set amount of material (water, holy symbols, etc) and the level will dictate the base damage/splash damage.
The Granted Powers are always the hardest part to do IMO, I like how it balances between armor/weapon/shield training and granted powers. But the powers must be balanced one against the others and the hole thing against standard clerics (just in case a GM wants to use specific clerics along with generic ones).
Maybe adding some extra rules for Turning other creatures types?
As the game rules says, a character can do subdual damage by attacking at -4 and do half damage. One can say that Clerics use blunt weapons to subdue/disable opponents rather than killing, so here are some options:
1- Blunt weapons do normal damage in subdual form.
2- Subdual Combat Ability: Clerics are trained to use their weapons in subdual combat and thus not suffer the -4 penalty.
3- Use 1 & 2 together.
4- Clerics can choose between doing halve damage or suffering the -4 attack penalty (they can ignore one of the two drawbacks)

I use the workshop because I write most BFRPG stuff in a rather collaborative way, both for the ideas it generates and because I want to engage others into coming up with stuff themselves... in effect, trying to train in some new authors... get them sharing, get them writing, get them commenting on stuff. Begging for others to be active in our little community.
That said, once I feel like something is essentially finished, then I feel like it can go to the showcase. It can still get edits from there, but likely less frequently as the bulk of the work is done.

I use both the workshop and the showcase at the same time so the file is easily accessible via both of this (so the reader doesn't have to go to another page and search for the file)

I did not mean that as a dig at Artikid. I should not have been talking in general about showcase items on a specific showcase project. That was my mistake. It was just that this thread got me thinking about it. Its fine if the Showcase is going to be for non peer reviewed projects. Its just not what I thought the Showcase would be.

I suppose I am looking at it from someone coming from the outside. I would see the downloads page as the official rules, supplements, modules, etc as designated by the creator of BFRPG. The showcase would be finished products from select BFRPG authors. And then the workshop would be for products "under construction". Taking a long view, judging from posts I have seen just on this thread, it looks like the Showcase will soon become the defacto workshop location for approved authors rather than the Showcase of finished products.

When describing the Showcase, I never said "finished," I said "complete."

I am in agreement with you here. Workshop is exactly that.
One does not build furniture in the showroom (ie.showcase section)... that stuff belongs back in the workshop (ie forum). The best (and official) stuff goes into the locked display cabinets (ie downloads of 'official' stuff).

I created a new thread for this.

My apologies Artikid. I did not mean for you to get the idea that you were cutting in front of anyone. It would be impossible for me to do that since I don't think there are any lines to cut in front of here.

Yes. Our little side discussion should not be construed as anything against the document itself. I love it. I already know portions are going into my own repertoire of house rules.
