The Samurai

Post Sun Dec 23, 2012 2:00 am

Hey all.. I recently posted my first supplement on the Showcase, The Samurai fighter sub-class. When I started BFRPG, I converted my players existing characters over from another d20 variant. One of the players character was a samurai. So I basically did a bit of research and created my own class for BFRPG. I've been running the class for awhile and I thought maybe somebody else could use it. Anyways its up and any feedback is appreciated.

It will be handy for me, I'll prepare a set of "oriental" classes, can you add the file here? Currently the showcase is down (it gives an error)...

I believe the armor it's called Yoroi instead of Yuroi.
What are the Armor values AC, MR, weight, etc.
The armor cost more than 3 times the value of a Full Plate Field Armor (1500GP, Equipment Emporium) and more than 16 times the value of a Plate Mail 300gp, Rulebook), which are the added benefits?
-Superior AC?
-Superior Movement?
-Lesser Weight?
-Some extras such as extra AC against cutting attacks, reducing cutting damage by half?

Suggestion: Use the Katana's damage as a special ability, making the sword something like a bastard sword for non-samurai but better for them. And make the Specialization an optional part.

Dimi.. Thanx I'll fix the spelling errors. Honestly the added cost is because these things are much more custom than a regular suit of armor and I think at level 7, it would be a good money siphon for the character. But I do need to flesh out the armor as far as AC etc. As for the weapon specialization I like how it works, and it shows that as the character gets more skilled with the weapon, it becomes more dangerous in his hands.

OK I took some of Dimirags advice and added the armor information to the supplement. I also added some headers and rearranged the text so that it flowed better.. Release 1.2!

I don't mind the specialization ability, but not every GM uses it...

Another thing on armor, why they must wait until level 7 to wear it? It's a matter of Honor? Status? An explanation could be helpful here.

What are the values for the Katana? Cost, weight, etc.

Finally, the Bushido Code should be explained here so GM doesn't have to find it on other places if using a Samurai on a largely non-oriental campaign.
