Hey, you can play Castle D'Angelo right now! It's not complete, but trust me, no players will ever see everything in that freakshow.

Heck, you can even playtest House of Coldarius (though ideas for the "empty" rooms are still welcome).

I'm preparing for Quincon, where I plan to run an excursion into Castle D'Angelo, and it's inspired me to work on the adventure a bit more. I've added a group of Nazgorean Frogmen to the encounter table, bringing the count to 6; I'd like to think of two more encounters, probably NPCs, to add to the adventure.

Hmm.

A wizard and a thief. The wizard is one of those lesser members of the D'Angelo family, a cousin who never really mastered magic. His delusion is that he is the reincarnation of Roland, the original Duke D'Angelo, and that he has Roland's awesome powers. But when he says he's casting a spell, unless it's accidentally one of the few he knows, he just pretends it goes off. "A fireball! Boom! You're dead!"

He's maybe, what, third level? But he's an older guy, fiftyish and distinguished-looking. Ah... maybe he was originally one of the librarians? He still knows all he knew before, and will volunteer information if a player character mentions something that can be answered with a book in one of the libraries.

But if he isn't treated with the proper respect, he'll (pretend to) cast something nasty on the miscreant, and then throw a tantrum if the PC's don't act like it worked.

Now... the thief. He's a real master thief, who entered by guile and planned to steal the very best stuff he can get into his pockets. But what should his delusion be? Any suggestions?

What if he inks he is actually a brave knight, on a quest to rescue one of the princesses?

Maybe his delusion is what is the very best thing there is to steal, he might believe there is some really amazing stuff, like a giant statue made of pure gold of Roland D'Angelo and that he can put it in his pocket, and that in his pocket are tons of priceless things.

Arcan's tower, first floor (area 27):
This room is arranged like an office, with a desk and chair set into the nook of the staircase and another desk and chair in the northwest corner. The walls were lined with paintings; some of them lie smashed on the floor, while others have been defaced with colored paints and a few have been hung upside down. Several partially-dried pots of paint are on the northwestern desk, with paint-laden brushes haphazardly strewn around them. The other desk is in immaculate order, with a sealed inkpot and a fresh quill lying atop a neat stack of papers in the center.
That's the description, minus any encounter. What should be in this room? Remember, it's a major trafficway inside the castle, with Aunt Fleta and her ladies upstairs.

Hmm... interesting. Especially if he follows the party and encounters one of the young Ladies of the castle...

It looks like someone with split personality and highly artistic spirit lives there, he's charged with remodeling the place into a more beautiful one, one of his personalities wants to make the place more elegant, noble and classic, he is the one that keeps everything in order, the other personality ones to takes things to a new level and is the one painting everything in weird ways.
