I have the mail you sent me years ago smoot, thanks anyway.

This leads me to a second question: Should BFRPG change its fonts to free downloadable fonts as to be truly 100% free?

That's not a bad idea, but I love the look we have.

The font choices were a very serious consideration that Solomoriah deliberated on. They were chosen for their distinct usage in the old school writings so that the BFRPG rules would emulate those styles correctly. I doubt Solo will be on board with such changes (though he may pipe in to say directly his thoughts on this).

The problem with a font changeover is that it means a complete redo of any materials after the fonts are figured out and chosen.

Now, for the core rules (new version being crafted), this is an ideal time to at least consider this change.

But, overall, since I already have all the fonts in question, I don't see a big point in doing it at this time. For newcomers, I can see how this is not ideal, but feel free to contact me via PM, and I will assist you with locating fonts ;) .

I know chris has put a lot of effort in his work and that he made no random nor whimsical choices. It would be great (INHO) if BFRPG use open source fonts, maybe someone here can create some fonts resembling the original ones. I said what I said because it strike me as odd that the fonts, which are the "face" of the books can't be downloaded openly and must be "shared" privately.

There are no free Souvenir-style fonts, nor any good Gothic equivalents. Since I made the design decision to mimic the classic rules as much as possible, I made use of the fonts I had at hand.

There was a plan to switch all the Gothic to Quicksand, which isn't bad but does not look as much like Gothic as I'd like. License issues stopped us; now the license for Quicksand has changed, we might be able to go through with it.

Century Gothic, which we use for module text, is a very plain sans serif font; the fonts you're finding are more "Goth" than that. :D

It might be useful to create a style guide here. I don't know if it's possible, but if it is, it could also be useful to provide the fonts here.

Fonts can't be provided here on the site, but for anyone that needs them, contact chris or chiisu81 at basicfantasy.org and we'll help you out.
I like to point out spelling mistakes and post GIFs.
