Thanks for the quick responses guys.

What confused me about the hit points is that in BF1, page 20 for example, it states that there are 4 goblins in room 6 and in the HP section there wee four sets of HP boxes. 2 HP, 3HP, 5HP, 6HP. Are then these to be used as "pre rolled" goblins?

Yes. But the HD figure is still a necessary component in figuring out Attack bonus, even if the creature has been fully detailed out (HP already rolled).

Personally, I think the stat block (lines) ought to just go ahead and list the attack bonus, just for simplicity sake... but this is not how it was done back in the day.

A spear is a nifty weapon. I often wonder why my PCs don't use it more often. If you look at page 11 of the core rulebook you'll see that it can be:

Thrown (using dex bonus for the attack roll) for 1d6 damage plus your strength bonus (p.48 under damage) with range distances of short 10', medium 20' and long 30'.

One handed melee (using strength bonus for the attack roll) for 1d6 damage plus your strength bonus.

Two handed melee (using strength bonus for the attack roll) for 1d8 damage plus your strength bonus.

Makes a good pole for prodding stuff (albeit it isn't necessarily a 10' pole)

Maybe a small sewer/tunnel system? Something like from Diablo 2 or Oblivion springs to mind. Perhaps something that could be added to an eventual BF-1 "special edition" (as referenced here)

I'm gonna try my hand at coloring the cover illustration; I also know me and some others have taken a stab at making some additional maps in MapMatic, I'm gonna try to consolidate and work on those as well.

Any beginners dungeon doesn't need to be big.

I've been cobbling the old redbook choose-your-own-adventure intro into a "normal" GM'ed dungeon. Something about that size would be a decent get-your-feet-wet adventure.
