Basic Fantasy Field Guide 2 – Corrections

Page 11 – Bear, Migou – Paragraph 1
Remove extra space between ‘as’ and ‘delicacies’.
Currently: The migou is a relentless and extremely savage predator, preferentially attacking humanoids and canines as delicacies.

Suggest: The migou is a relentless and extremely savage predator, preferentially attacking humanoids and canines as delicacies.

Page 15 – Sewer Boar – Stat Block
HD and Save As mismatch looks like the stats were copied from the Polar Boar and this one didn’t get updated to match the increased HD.
Currently: Fighter: 5

Suggest: Fighter: 7

Page 18 – Cheiropteran – Stat Block
Since the creature is “typically armored with a chain mail shirt” should the AC in the stats show an entry in parenthese?
Currently: Armor Class 16

Suggest: Armor Class 16 (12)

Page 18 – Cheiropteran – Paragraph 3
Need to add XP for advanced forms of cheiropteran.
Currently: For every 10 cheiropterans, one will be a corporal with AC 16 and 5 HD. For every 30, one will be a sergeant with AC 17 and 41-50 hit points, attacking as a 6 HD monster. If there are 50 or more, one will be a captain with AC 18 and 51-60 hit points, attacking as a 7 HD monster. There is a 50% chance that a priest will accompany a party of cheiropterans. A priest is a Level 4-7 Cleric with full spell-casting powers. If a priest is encountered there will also be 1-3 acolytes of level 1-3.

Suggest: For every 10 cheiropterans, one will be a corporal with AC 16, 5 HD, Save As F5, XP 360. For every 30, one will be a sergeant with AC 17, 6 HD, Save As F6, XP 500. If there are 50 or more, one will be a captain with AC 18, 7 HD, Save As F7, XP 670. There is a 50% chance that a priest will accompany a party of cheiropterans. A priest is a Level 4-7 Cleric AC 16 to 18, (Level)d6 HD, Save As C(Level) XP in line with level, with full spell-casting powers. If a priest is encountered there will also be 1-3 acolytes of level 1-3 with AC 16, (Level)d6 HD, Save As C(Level) and XP in line with level.

Page 20 – Corpse Abomination – Stat Block
HD levels don’t match the XP levels. XP are listed for double star, but no stars are listed in the HD field.
Currently: HD 6, 12, or 18
XP 610, 2,075, or 4,320

Suggest: XP HD 6, 12, or 18
XP 500, 1,875, or 4,000

Page 28 – Dragon, Ice – Stat Block
HD and XP don’t match. XP is for a two star HD 20 creature.
Currently: Armor Class: 14 (+10)
Save As: Fighter: 12
XP: 5,650

Suggest: Currently: Armor Class: 14** (+10)
Save As: Fighter: 14
XP: 2,730

Page 28 – Dragon, Ice – Paragraph 2
Clear the language of the last sentence.
Currently: It can also disguise itself completely by burrowing underneath, often using this to ambush its prey, surprising on 1-5 on 1d6.

Suggest: It can also disguise itself completely by burrowing underneath snow or ice, often using this to ambush its prey, surprising on 1-5 on 1d6.

Basic Fantasy Field Guide 2 – Comments

Page 18 – Cheiropteran – Stat Block
The treasure types are good for Lair only but nothing is listed for individuals. In the description it mentions “In addition to the treasure shown, an individual cheiropteran will carry 1d100 triangular bone coins.”

Page 28 – Dragon, Ice – Description
The description mentions that no young have been seen and that these may be ancient White Dragons. The problem is that extrapolating lower level Ice Dragons a Level 1 dragon would have a HD of 11, which is more then 2 HD above the HD 9 of the Level 7 White Dragon. This would make the Ice Dragon a separate breed of dragon which would need an Age Table of its own. At least IMHO.

It's always more of a "draw what you want to see, we're happy with anything!" ;)
Perhaps as the Dracomander image had to be pulled you may want to come up with a replacement...

Gathering up artwork that didn't make it into r43. I'll also begin putting in AlMan's edits and doing an editing pass myself.

Basic Fantasy Field Guide 2 – Corrections – I'm still using R43

Page 32 – Duckbear – Stat Block
Save As and XP doesn’t match HD 6
Currently: Save As Fighter 5
XP 400

Suggest: Save As Fighter 6
XP 500

Page 40 – Geminate Serpent, Blue – Stat Block
Note the Attack Bonus with the Hit Dice since the Attack Bonus is different then the HD. Save As is not in line with HD 7. Should also note that the Save As would change with age of creature.
Currently: HD 7**
Save As Fighter 11

Suggest: HD 7** (+8)
Save As Fighter 7 (as Hit Dice)

Page 40 – Geminate Serpent, Bone – Stat Block
Note the Attack Bonus with the Hit Dice since the Attack Bonus is different then the HD. Save As is not in line with HD 11. Should also note that the Save As would change with age of creature.
Currently: HD 11**
Save As Fighter 12

Suggest: HD 11** (+9)
Save As Fighter 11 (as Hit Dice)

Basic Fantasy Field Guide 2 – Comments

Page 33 – Dufflepud – Paragraph 2
The description of Veteren Dufflepuds doesn’t include XP and the captain and chief duffer don’t have information about increased HD, or XP.

Page 38 – Fell Manticore
Since this is a Manticore crossed with a Displacer I think it should be listed as Manticore, Fell.

Page 39 – Gellybones
Since this is a form of skeleton should they be listed as Skeleton, Gellybone?

Page 40 – 43 All Geminate Serpents
Taking a note from the Core Rules Dragon descriptions put ‘(as Hit Dice)’ after entry in the Save As field to denote that the Save As values change as the creature ages. Should there be something similar for XP since it would change too?

Basic Fantasy Field Guide 2 – Corrections

Page 44 – Gila – Stat Block
Movement rate mentions Unarmored movement. The description of the creatures doesn’t mention them wearing armor and that the scales are as tough as armor.
Currently: Movement 30’ Unarmored 40’

Suggest: Movement 30’

Page 46 – Golem, Chain – Stat Block
Remove added information from Save As, don’t need the expanded information and Attack Bonus.
Currently: Save As Fighter: 20** (+13)

Suggest: Save As Fighter: 20

Page 47 – Golem, Purifier – Stat Block
Remove added information from Save As, don’t need the expanded information.
Currently: Save As Fighter: 8**

Suggest: Save As Fighter: 8

Page 48 – Golem, Straw – Paragraph 1
Awkward verbiage in sentence. Removing pronouns.
Currently: Certain druids can make a Straw Golem, which typically has an agricultural role and often used as a scarecrow. It takes half damage from blunt weapons and no damage from piercing ones. It will usually attack by grabbing a nearby pitchfork, rake, or other nearby discarded tool. It is particularly vulnerable to fire, and any fire attack will set it alight, destroying it in 3 rounds. During these 3 rounds the golem will move at maximum speed towards whoever set it alight, seeking to hug them and hold them in the fire to join the straw golem in oblivion. Anyone held in a hug by a burning straw golem will take 1d6 points of damage in the first round, 2d6 in the second round, and 3d6 in the third round before it burns away.

Page 33 – Dufflepud – Stat Block
Should the Dufflepud have the Dwarf bonuses for Save As?

Page 48 – Golem, Tin
The last sentence of the description is about strong characters being able to not be forced into the tools. The wording and calculation isn’t described well. I would suggest making it a Save vs Death Ray using the STR bonus.

Currently: Very strong characters have a chance, calculated as 10% per point of Strength over 15, to resist being forced into the tool.

Suggest: Very strong characters can Save vs Death Ray with STR bonus, to resist being forced into the tool.
