The Wrath of Gruund

So, who's Gruund? I'm glad you asked. He's a Hobgoblin leader who's decided he's going to run all of the humans out of the Western Lands.

This is a two part adventure campaign that I'll be working on (in addition to my sevearal other projects). I've already got a lot of stuff written up on it, and have plans for adding adventures and what not. I'm also tying in my "Purists" supplement as well, to give a bit of a seamlessness to my work.

Here's the very rough drafts of the two parts. I had intended to hold this one close to my chest, but I'm at a point now where I've gotten all of the fluff out of the way and am working on the detail work.

I like the fact that someone decided to write some more adventures set in the Western Lands. Hopefully Solo will let them become canon.

I think Solo's idea for the Western Lands was to create a sandbox for GM's to build upon. These two supplements are just that, building on the sandbox he created. Ultimately, I intend to bring Morgansfort forward 5-10 years, turning Morgansfort itself into a small city, and moving the "Lord of the Manor" to the new fortress being built on the ruins of the Old Island Fortress.

I'm having to learn Gimp so I can re-design Morgansfort to that end. I want to add a middle ward with a curtain wall surrounding the whole fortress, then an outer ward, bisected by a "grand avenue", with a market square in the center, that will be filled with the town. If anyone with the skills feels up to it, and can get the Morgansfort plans from Solo to work with (they aren't in the .org files), we could email back and forth to get a better idea of what I'm visualizing and put it in this supplement.

In the Battle of Morgansfort supplement, the west wall of the fortress will take a beating from the trebuchets and be totally breached. The buildings on the eastern side of the fortress will be totally burned down and destroyed, as well as the barracks and other buildings on the western side. The only thing left standing will be the Baron's hall/tower. It will be the new Sheriff's job in the Part 2 supplement to rebuild the wall and strengthen the fortress by adding an outer ward.

Ultimately, once I get these two finished, the Barony of Morgansfort will be turned into a County, with Baron Morgan (or his son Halden) being elevated to a Count.

As for whether any of this becomes canon... I don't think it will really matter. I'm open to having others work on this with me. I'm not trying to be a lone ranger here. The original Morgansfort was a group effort if I understand correctly. If anyone sees any part of this they want to take and run with, or wants to add an adventure to it, I'm open to that too. Hell, I don't even have to be the one in drivers seat. I'm just having fun writing.

There is no canon in the Western Lands.

I've added the XCF originals for Morgansfort and the surrounding area to this post.

Thanks, Chris. That'll help immensely.

Okay. I see what you are saying. It is up to the individual GM to decide what is cannon or not in their campaign. I like that. 8-)

No, -1warrior, it's actually the Western Lands specifically I'm talking about. I'll accept adventures for print set in the Western Lands even if they conflict with each other (though if we know they do, it would be good to mention that).

That's cool too. I apologize for my lack of understanding.
