[AA2] The Dungeon of Kyros

Post Thu Oct 02, 2014 7:46 am

I mentioned just the other day that I received a dungeon map and key created by my departed friend Alan Jett, and just as I said I would, and with the approval of his widow, here is the first release of it.

He created it for his own use, and as far as I can tell it's his first attempt, so it's a little rough. This release is his original key, in his words, with a few changes that are noted above the key. I've added an intro and about the author section and put it into standard format.

Going forward, I intend to rewrite each entry to include boxed text and separate GM descriptions. Also, there are rooms he had not detailed that I will be creating myself. As much as I can I'm keeping it his way, but I know he would want me to make it a professional-looking work.

I said I'd probably insert this into AA2, but I think I'll keep it separate for now.

This adventure can be found in AA2 on the Downloads page.

Considering that this was made by a dear friend of yours I truly think that it is better to have it on it own. It deserves its own place :)

Looks like a decent vanilla dungeon to me! :)

I like vanilla dungeons cos they mean exploring dark passages full of weird and unexpected things in search of fantastic treasures.

... I was sitting on my couch with a kitten sleeping on my lap, watching the (original) D&D movie and marveling at how crappy it was when she pulled into my driveway.

I went ahead and watched the rest of it... and I did NOT remember that Tom Baker was in it. Wow. But it was still crappy.

That rubber scepter.... the second movie is better and the third is good.
The Dragonlance animated movie is unwatchable

The "rod" of controlling red dragons did look rather suggestive, didn't it?

Just saying, the parody movies of D&D easily beat out the real stuff.

I'm guessing they'll try to make a Drizzt movie next. Can you imagine how horrible that will be? (Because they'll sure ignore everything other than the fight scenes, and thus we'll get another Desolation of Smaug...)
Magic Items... Sold Dirt Cheap!

My job is to archive all of Hyway's awesome parodies. ;)

I say for now make it a standalone dungeon that can be downloaded. But I think it would be a great salute to him to get it printed..

Yes, I also think it deserves a spot in the one-day-in-print AA2.

I really enjoyed that blog entry, I don't think I could do the same for my long-time friend without completely breaking down.
