Just curious why my banshee didn't get added in. It is such an obvious monster that is not in the main rules.
Other than that, a couple typos here and there, but overall, it's a great book.

Re: Basic Fantasy Field Guide
Probably it got of the book because there already was one (page 18) possible created before yours (although I prefer the female wailing spirit rather than the elven ghost style (that's no banshee to me)

I honestly don't remember, dan. It was a while back, and in the final process several similar monsters got merged. I don't recall if your Banshee was one of those, or if it was just overlooked. Possibly one of the other editors of the project may remember.

When there was already an entry that covered a specific topic/creature, there really just was not much effort to look for additional/alternative takes. If anyone were to say something like "i like this version better" (at the time), then I/we would have investigated further. When duplication of entry/topic actually occurred that made it into the draft of the guide, some entries that were merged into one (combining what we felt was the best aspects of each), and there were some where we simply said "going with this one". There was not a whole lot of discussion or even thought in process. We made a choice and moved on.Solomoriah wrote:I honestly don't remember, dan. Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

Re: Basic Fantasy Field Guide
And, I agree with Dimi. I prefer the folklore wailing spirit concept to the Elf Undead idea. I wish I had noticed the difference or that there were alternative takes to "choose from".
But it is what it is now. Perhaps we can post the alternative in the New Monsters Thread I started some weeks ago, perhaps give it name like "Wailing Spirit".

Do you care to point these out so they can be fixed?danbuter wrote:Other than that, a couple typos here and there, but overall, it's a great book.

It's right out of English folklore...Dimirag wrote:Probably it got of the book because there already was one (page 18) possible created before yours (although I prefer the female wailing spirit rather than the elven ghost style (that's no banshee to me)
In any case, question answered. Thanks!
