I'm with you on this. I said something like that some time ago. If we end up having lots of new monsters lets do a new or second supplement instead of increasing the existing one.Hywaywolf wrote:IMO, since BFRPG isn't a commercial product where the bottom line is sacred, if there is a second Field guide it should contain all new monsters. What would be the point of making the first book obsolete by adding a few monsters to the second one unless you just wanted to make people buy the book again. If its determined there is a real need for more monsters, then just create Basic Fantasy Field Guide, Volume Two, 'Further Afield", and list all new monsters.

Re: Basic Fantasy Field Guide
Oh, I just learn that poisonous animals secret toxins, and that venomous ones inject them, so:
Poison: External
Venom: Internal
The aranea bite, the imp's sting, the spined's bite, the spiderwolf's bite, the giant barb snail and the ice giant spider, would be venomous.
I know the game treat them both as poison, so its just a matter of grammatical taste

Re: Basic Fantasy Field Guide
I think these are the only entries from AA1 not in either FG or Core 3E:
Carpet Trapper, Morphganger, Faerie Dragon, Pipe Beast (AA1 - Merilla's Tower)
Darkling (AA1 - Ruin of Darkfir Castle)
They may be too "specialized" for the adventure to warrant inclusion in either?

Re: Basic Fantasy Field Guide
I'd also go this way because the number of graphics and such makes the current one hard enough to work in; adding more would have Scotty screaming over the intercom.Dimirag wrote:I'm with you on this. Emailed Solo link for proposed R7.
Corrected header on OGL license page
Removed Assassin Vine in the FG since there's one in the 3E Core Rules
Added Octopus Fungus image
Changed Grimlick image to Dimirag's; I won't object to reverting this change
Added Dimirag's Shield Guardian (page 42 of FG thread) with my edits; I don't understand the last sentence however.
Removed 3rd asterick: Aboleth, Couatl, Ice Devil, Infernal-Succubus, Lich
Aboleth, first paragraph, corrected to "is secreted from its mouth"
Aboleth, Skum desciptions, corrected to "breathe under-"
Ankheg, 2nd paragraph, corrected "it's" to "its" for all instances
Ape, Common (Bonobo, Chimpanzee), Bonobo, changed to "... much rarer."
Ape, Common (Gorilla, Orangutang), corrected to "Orangutang"
Aranea, first paragraph, corrected to "... is a pair"; corrected to "halfling-sized" and "human-sized"
Behir, second paragraph, corrected to "breathe forth a bolt"
Blade Spirit, 3rd paragraph, corrected to "afterwards"
Bone Horror, 3rd paragraph, corrected to "nastier"
Cheetah, first paragraph, corrected to "A smaller member of the great cats, the cheetah"; corrected to "are capable"; deleted extra "of"; corrected to "Sometimes"; changed "Sub-adult" to "Juvenile" for consistency
Couatl, 3rd paragraph, capitalized "ESP"
Dinosaur, Ankylosaurus, changed to "knobby tail"
Dragonne, 2nd paragraph, corrected to "addition"
Ettercap, first paragraph, revised last sentence
Faun (and Ibix), first paragraph, corrected to "fey-related"
Frost Worm, first paragraph, correct to "on its head"
Great Orb of Eyes, corrected to "its ey rays"; corrected to "The Game Master may roll randomly to determine which ray fires;"
Grick, first paragraph, correct to "Its tentacles"
Gump, first paragraph, correct to "than a man"; 2nd paragraph, corrected to "gump's reflection"; 2nd paragraph, corrected to "its gaze"
Ice-Devil, 2nd paragraph, correct to "breathe a cone"
Infernals, revised opening paragraph
Lerini, first paragraph, corrected to "bluish" (I'll likely re-word this on the next editing pass)
Otyugh, 2nd paragraph, corrected to "that its prey"
Owlbear, Fire-breathing, 2nd paragraph, corrected to "choosing to breathe fire"
Rot Vulture, #4, correct to "its victim"
Rousirl, first paragraph, corrected to "Its"; corrected to "uses"
Satyr, second parapgraph, changed to "fires arrows"
Shambler, removed comma; corrected to "They are typically encountered"
Spider, Giant Bola, corrected to "If they succeed..."
Thulid, first paragraph, correct to "man-like"
Vermen (Ratman), corrected to "much braver"
Will-o’-wisp, 2nd paragraph, changed to "emit small electrical"
Couatl: says 2d8 damage in stat block, but 2d4 in description
I've started a list of entries sorted by Hit Die, should be done by R8
Most of these changes are my previous work from the "forked version" confusion we had earlier. I've also inserted a number of new images. I have re-inserted images that are plainly out of place, but layout is NOT a priority until text and stat-blocks have been worked out. Next editing pass will result in a lot more re-writing and revisions.

I don't know about the Darkling, but I don't want to include the creatures from Merilla's Magic Tower in the Field Guide at this time.chiisu81 wrote:I think these are the only entries from AA1 not in either FG or Core 3E:

Re: Basic Fantasy Field Guide
"A shield guardian will "shield" the amulet by putting in front of it and becoming the attack's target. Their protective movements interferes with any combat move form the amulet causing a -4 attack penalty."
This part chiisu?
It means it will be always near the "amulet" in any combat (the person holding the amulet is considered "the amulet") and that it will act as a bodyguard getting hit instead of the amulet, but his clumsy movements makes difficult to the amulet (the person carrying the amulet) to fight freely and thus the attack penalty.

So, are we still able to submit monsters? Or is it to late?
"I react badly to fear. I don't usually have the good sense to run, or hide - I just try to smash whatever is making me afraid. It is a primitive thing, and one I don't question to much." - Harry Dresden
