Hello, de-lurking here. I love the game and I greatly appreciate what the work you all are doing with the field guide. However, might you consider renaming the Wogg in the final product?

I think get what you're going for, being froglike and all, and I know it's a fantasy game, but "wog" is an real-life old racial slur. It's a little jarring to see something similar listed in the guide as " a race of nasty, brutish humanoid[s]".

My two cents.

Well then, that's awkward. I just took Bullywug and Pollywog and blended them together. No objections to changing it from me.

I didn't know that either.

What would be a better name for this monster?

How about Wug as in Bullywug...

How about "Foulthug"? Feels similar in the mouth, sums up their concept well...

I like Bullywug

But let's double-check it's not Product Identity from Wizards first!

I would say Bullywug myself. But I don't know if that is protected or not. If nothing else Wugs or Wug would work nicely.

I think they are. Pathfinder uses "Boggard" for their equivalent monster, and S&W uses "Thugtoad", both of which are in their SRDs, so I think we'd be safe with either of those.

I'm good with Wug, if that's not a slur of some sort. If we use either of the other names, we likely need to copy the additional copyright statements from their OGL to be safe.

A quick internet search turns up nothing in the Wug department other than this (http://www.internetslang.com/WUG-meaning-definition.asp) which is completely harmless.
