I say nay to summoning dragons. I think it's rather ridiculous. I think this would work best as a cleric subclass with weak spells (like the cleric) and instead of turn undead table, and influence dragon table. Maybe summoning dragons could be a higher level spell. It would have to be a level 5 or 6 spell me thinks.
Another thing, could I just say that while I think making new classes is really cool and stuff, I am worried it will make our game (ser gavin's, lord gilbard's) quite convoluted. I see more merit in using the existing classes and putting a unique spin on things.
For example: My druid is like a normal druid but his soul is bonded with wolf or my cleric doesn't worship a god he worships dragons. I don't want our game to end up with everyone player their own special custom class that hasn't been balanced to the highest degree. Just my 2 cents; this probably wont go down to well at school tomorrow :? .
P.s Ser gavin, animating a dragolich is super ultimate high fantasy villain stuff not level 9-10.

Definitely right about the Dracolich. Those things are freaking over powered!

I think that's a bit too high fantasy which isn't the style that really maximises the enjoyment of our campaign. Cleric with dragon Calming/Befriending/Controlling. Maybe change round the spells a bit. Could maybe choose a certain type of dragon and get their abilities.

This class shouldn't just be for your campaign. It should be for BFRPG players in general. Just my two cents.

Well I mean BFRPG has a general mid fantasy old school dnd vibe. For high fantasy, 3.5 and pathfinder is more suitable. I don't think it would fit the pre-established class styles in power levels.

In my opinion, any Ruleset can be used for any theme. It all depends on how you use it. Sure Pathfinder and 3.5 might be good for high fantasy, but BECMI would work too. Just my opinion.

I know i'm not playing with yoy guys so I apologies for intruding.
I agree with black1blade, if you start adding new classes without a lot of measurement the game could crash really fast, one thing is to playtest one class that has had some reviews, other thing is to playtest a bunch of totally new classes, it can stress the game.

If you want classes with a spin then you can:
1-Make quasiclasses: They are a little easier to do than full classes.
2-Use the specialties supplements and create the ones you need, or twist it so they get more abilities rather than the 3 provided by the supplement.
3-Make some trades, reduce one thing in order to gain another, renounce to something and gain or improve a new one.

Final suggestion: Let the player gives the general idea of what he wants to play but let the creation to the GM and accept any veto or prohibition he puts on the class, then seek advise outside of the gaming groups, otherwise it tends to become a struggle of what everybody wants as the players starts to gives more and more ideas and abilities for the class.

The primary balance must come from the GM when he reads the class, the secondary one must come from play.

Quasi-classes work alright. I use them a lot in my games.

Thanks Dimirag, I needed that support.
