Re: Monsters as Player Characters: A Basic Fantasy Supplement
By definition orcs and goblins are villain for the story. They really wouldn't fit into humanoid society so if they went into a village or something they would be killed probably.

That is an issue players have to deal with. In some campaign worlds, some lands tolerate goblins in town (on market day, for instance, though they might not be allowed to stay after dark).

The choices are there as building blocks for a distinct campaign.
For instance, once (though I was using another game we all know) I utilized the Keep on the Borderlands but had the campaign centered on the players being orcs, goblins, kobolds, etc. They raided some of the caves to commandeer some of the tougher humanoids (ie the gnolls and bugbears) and ultimately started making raids into the Keep via different routes. This was a very fun campaign, and while we flipped the game around, the characters were still heroic in their manner - defending and striking back at the human encroachment into their lands.
I am quite fond of a several of the races there.

Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

I think the whole idea of the supplement is to use humanoid monsters, not just the humanoid creatures that normally fit the "good guy" aspect.
How each creature and monster fits into a specific world is always up to the GM.

Great work. I was working on something similar on the Goblinoid games forum awhile back, based on the Orcs of Thar.
Hebitsuikaza posted there also. He came off as an unfriendly , know it all. Posted , then disappeared.
Nice supplement for humanoid players. I see Goblins and some others get a bonus for Thief skills, demi-humans should get the same. Dwarves should get a bonus for locks, Elves for moving silently & hiding, etc.

Yes. Read the explanation at the top of the Downloads page; that will tell you where the "official" and "unofficial" stuff lives.

Thanks again. I founds some great stuff and printed it out to put with the Core book. Thief options, Half Humans, Gnomes, and Old Monsters as New Races.
