Yes, exactly. When we have new versions of an in-print book, I keep the in-print PDF and ODT online so people can see what they are buying. This is why there's a note about the print version for each such book.

I see, I confused "release" with "candidate", now I know better.

- Introduction page: the header & footer lines need to be removed, as they don't appear anywhere else (though the newer templates have/should have them)
- Delver: there's a lot of white-space on that page; could we do similar to the Aboleth/Lich/Shield Guardian, and have the image "break" the column divide to take up more room (and also be larger)?
- Desert Worm: the image should be either above its entry or below it, not next to it (right now it makes it look like it goes with the dinosaur entries, going by the text/page flow)
- OGL: In the Intro and near the end, it should probably state "Basic Fantasy Field Guide Volume 1" rather than just "The Basic Fantasy Field Guide", now that we have multiple volumes

I'll pay attention to these items as I make my pass through the book.

Do you have an archive of the artwork somewhere? I don't seem to have hi-res versions of all of it.

I'm doing a quick revision of the Crimson Bones Skeleton (after dealing with them in Horror Within) and will be dropping a new version soon. Just a warning so nobody else works on it...

Announcing!

The Basic Fantasy Field Guide Volume 1, Release 42 -- October 13, 2021
I've made a pass through the document, revising a few things for clarity and hammering on the layout, though I'm not sure I'm done with that last bit. This is provisionally a print release candidate; it's definitely better than R29, and I may go ahead and put it out rather than continuing to wait for it to be perfect.

Aboleth

After the transformation is complete, only a heal spell can reverse it.

The transformation takes about a month, and once complete the creature is forever a slave to the aboleth.

Contradiction?

Ape, Bonobo

HD 1-1 so XP should be 10 rather than 25.

Ape, Winged

No. of Attacks: 2 claws / 1 rock

Should probably be 2 claws or 1 rock as it shouldn't be doing both range and melee in the same round as it has only 2 hands. Damage would then be 1d4/1d4 or 1d6.

Aranea

No. Appearing: 1d6, Wild 1d6, Lair 1

Kinda weird to have only 1 in lair where it will have a treasure. I would have left it at 1d6.

Armorollo

Some type of size would have been useful.

Boggart

Saves as: Magic User 1

Giving that it's HD6, intelligent and that it is immune to charm, sleep and illusions, it would make more sense to save as an MU 6.

Boglin

Perhaps it would make sense for this monster to have a chance of having scrolls or potions?
Treasure type N/O.

Bone Horror

No. Appearing: Varies

The subject is not breached in the description. Given that all Golems are set at 1, I'd suggest 1d4 for the normal ones and 1 for the greater one.

Bronze Bird

AC: 16

The metal feathers of the bronze bird are the source of its high armor class.

Should probably be higher. An eagle has AC 15.

Brownie

A brownie is able to shape-change at will into the form of a small deer, hawk, or an otter.
see the relevant monster entry in the Core Rules

Hawk is in the Core Rules. Deer is covered in Antelope. Is there an otter entry?

Cadaver

(I personally call them Living Cadaver)

The Turn Undead power is a bit weird. I supposed it's used to hunt undead for sustenance.

I cannot find the first level spell referred to as curse.
It's weird to have only one level 2 spell. Once you've cast silence once, you rarely do it a second time. Hold Person? Resist Fire? Even Charm Animal could work.

Chelonian

It's like a turtle right?
I think the back should be thicker. AC 19?
Also, anyone attacking the back shouldn't get the normal bonus.
It should be like hitting a wall.
