Prelude: The Arrival

A group of locals has gathered in the common room, most armed with with makeshift weapons. (Clubs, kitchen knives, pitchforks, etc.) A single guardsman (greying and well past his fighting days) is trying to listen as a dozen people try to tell the tale at once.

As you descend the steps, Becca looks at you three and points "That's them, their the cause of all this ruckus!"

The small mob falls silent, and the guardsman looks towards you and says. "I'm Duncan, in Lord Mallister's name what in the nine hells is going on here?

That's what we'd like to know.

"All I know is I was attacked in my sleep by creatures that seemed as much rat as they were man"

After much discussion Duncan decides that you are not to blame. Several locals gather up the rat-men bodies and cart them up to Lord Mallisters Keep, for him to see upon his return. None of the townsfolk seem to have a clue about the creatures.

Go outside below the window that they rat men appeared to enter from. Is there any sign from where they may have come?

Ahrgest checks around outside the inn, but he is unable to find any signs.

Go back inside and figure out a plan of action. What time is it at this point?

The sun is just starting to rise.
