Re: Chapter 3: Trying Again
Arven says "In the book "Thirty-Seven Useful Parts of the Catoblepas" I read that the blind monks of the Hittren would coat trees with a certain scent that would repel the creatures, thereby keeping them effectively fenced into an area without a fence. Perhaps this is some sort of sce...

Re: Monk: a Clerical Sub-Class
Well now some of those older blowguns use pretty big darts, it's just the little commercial toys they sell that only fire the needles. But I got your point, and it is still not the best image for a "clerical" monk to portray. OK then the blowgun is out, or at least optional for the evil as...

Re: Chapter 3: Trying Again
Arven will stand at the corner (trying to avoid stepping in Trog guts) south of the trapped door watching the southern passage and listening intently for sounds of, well, pretty much anything.

Re: Monk: a Clerical Sub-Class
Yeah, now see that's where I fall short, I only use the basic three religions in my campaigns (Good, Neutral, and Evil) so I did not even think about the different gods gifting different abilities to their followers. "fat happy tonctured monks in brown robes slapping the crap out of people (&qu...

Re: Monk: a Clerical Sub-Class
Hey I like that "Adept". I did a search for Monk on the forum and must have missed your post before posting my version. Both are the same basic thing (get it "Basic thing", and this is Basic Fantasy...I crack myself up sometimes) anyhow, yours is a lot cleaner and explains the sk...

Re: Chapter 3: Trying Again
Arven, is appalled by the stench and sight of the dead creatures, but recalls a passage from Feldspar's "Ode to a Hobgoblin Maiden", smiles and chuckles quietly. He continues to attempt to avoid stumbling as he walks sideways/backward down the passage behind the party, looking for any move...

Monk: a Clerical Sub-Class
Has anyone done a write up for a the Monk? Here is what I am using for my group at home. Anyone see any glaring, obvious or not so obvious mistakes or over/under powering? Tried to do it in the BFRPG format so it looks pretty. A pretty weak character at the beginning, but by 4th they start to hold t...

Re: Chapter 3: Trying Again
OOC: If it's OK and to save time, Arven sat up last night, sharing a drink with Shybolt before bed, who told him what had transpired on their last time down here. This way I don't have to play dumb and ask alot of questions like "Hey, What is that? Have you tried this? What's in that room? etc...

OOC: Forgot that I had a shield, can I carry a torch in my shield hand? If not then my mace will have to hang at my belt, torch in my R hand, shield on the L.

Re: Chapter 3: Trying Again
Arven is remembering the time he was just a new acolyte at the monestary, he and several other young boys were playing "adventurer" in the crypts under the main chapel. He became seperated from the rest, and only had a small nub of a candle which finally burned out leaving him in total dar...
