Re: What Are Your Magic-User House Rules?

I use Int for "ideas rolls", I don't care how smart is the player, if his character is of low Int he probably would't thinks really smart things.... Back to the rules: Learn Spell could be just "Arcane lenguage" this enables him to read and probably talk some really obscure tongu...

Re: Saving Throws Question

IIRC AD&D uses Saving throws for special situations only, and for the rest recomends to use an ability roll. I like the idea of saving throws, but sadly they are kind of "narrow", maybe changing their names to wider situations could welp.... They are based on the source or type of atta...

Re: What Are Your Magic-User House Rules?

Two things about Hit Points: Remember that Thieves also has a d4 for HP, so allowing 2 starting dice for MU's would be unfair for them.
Giving them full HD value is unfair to the other classes...

Re: What Are Your Magic-User House Rules?

I was thinking on using a point system but for "spell learning", this means a MU first need to acquire the spell, then transcribe it to his/her spellbook, and then he/she can learn it. If not learn a spell must be prepared directly from the spellbook, but once studied the MU can prepare it...

Re: What Are Your Magic-User House Rules?

There are lots of ideas about mages and armors as there are for magic itself... Some say its the reduction in mobility that affects spell, but this only would apply to spell with physical components, but BF doesn't use Components but the GM could say the mage requires some movement and wearing armor...

Re: Rewarding Experience

I prefer giving XP based on new ideas and general roleplay rather than performance, not every player perform their character the same way (some speech as their character, some not), giving XP based on that could make other players unhappy just becouse they are not the bes at performance. Allowing th...

Re: No multiple attacks for fighters?

Using one roll is fast and different from other games with simmilar mechanics. OD&D requires a base AC (2) in order of allow an extra attack, so we can use istead the diference between attack roll and armor. Another (complicated) way is the one I'm inclined to use (this is a simplification): The...

Re: No multiple attacks for fighters?

The extra attacks for humanoids is base on the BAB as some kind of "combat skill", monster fight by instinct so they are denied of this, they only get extra attacks based on phisiology... So: Humanoids monsters (thos that could increased their HD) could have Extra Attacks. Other monsters a...

Re: No multiple attacks for fighters?

My proposal is basically the 3.5 way, the first attack its made at 100% BAB, the 2nd at -5, the 3º at -10 (as long as the BAB remains at +1 minimun you get the attack. I personally would prefere some new system rather than the tipical "copy/paste" so i'm thinking on making extra attacks pa...
