Re: adapting to a 1 on 1 game?

One on one is tricky. I do it with my son all the time, and have worked out a few tactics. - Never have too many monsters in an initial fight set-up. You can always add more in later. - Have an NPC that you run, who can make helpful suggestions if totally neccesary. - Focus on role-playing with NPCs...

Re: Chapter 5: All Aboard the Ark-Ari

OK, finally getting around to this... The ledge is about 200 feet in length and about 60 feet wide. Rostam dives below and manages to grab the unconscious merchant's assistant and get him to the surface. It is not clear if he is alive or dead. The monk swims over and helps with getting the man back ...

Re: Chapter 5: All Aboard the Ark-Ari

I thought I posted here a few days ago! Will have to fix this. It was quite a long post.

Re: How many boulders should giants hold/have available?

Definitely a situational call. If they are out hunting they might have a bag with 3-4 each. On the way back from hunting, maybe only one left. In a trap or likely defensible spot, a whole pile. Caught napping or otherwise occupied in the lair, none. You could use a short cut and say 1d3, or 1d4-1, o...

Re: Out-of-Character Chat

Sorry, I think I just blew your infravision by shining a lantern down there.

You should be on 3hp less than you started, I think. So far I am the only person who has gotten injured except you.

Re: 3rd Chapter: Up the Stairs

Hengist moves up to D9 to guard the magic user! Excellent work! Hengist is also carrying the lantern so there is now light shed on the space beyond the door, hopefully. Ranald will now move up to E9 on the top map, just behind Hengist and the mage. He still has the crossbow and is still watching out...

Re: Chapter 5: All Aboard the Ark-Ari

Phew - someone saved Coroban. I thought you guys were all just going to ignore that. :D Rostam leaps into the water and casts around, looking for the vanished merchant's assistant. During this round, he cannot find him, but he can keep trying next round. Jaali leaps back abord the boat which is bei...

Re: Opinions: task repetition

My go-to ruling on stuff like this is that you can't try the same thing again unless the sitiation has changed somehow. Getting a better lockpick set, leveling up, doing research into locks of that particular kind - that sort of thing might count in the case of locks. Trying to charm your way past s...

Re: Chapter 5: All Aboard the Ark-Ari

No action from Maju so I will press ahead. Jaali was being watched by the orcs as he swam in, and as I said, they were prepared to attack him. When he tried to clamber onshore, three of them attack him and he is hit twice, but only takes 4 hp damage. He is now on the ledge, in melee with 3 orcs. The...

Re: General Query

The big one is armour. Human light load with Strength 15 is only 66 pounds. If someone's wearing plate mail, they have only 16 pounds left to play with. If they say they have a great axe, they have 1 pound of encumbrance left. They can't really carry most other things except at a snail's pace. I han...
