Re: Quasi-North American Fantasy Lands

You've got to do something with this take on Neanderthal. http://themandus.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Neanderthal-200.jpg Though if you're doing the Sasquach, this looks very much like a short (5 1/2' to 6') version of that creature. I love the idea of this setting. I would love to do a "Great W...

Re: Powder & Shot: Black powder weapons for Basic Fantasy

I don't know if you thought about this or not, but black powder weapons can be used as bludgeoning weapons. They can also have a bayonette attached to the end, which adds stabbing damage as well.

Re: New Project: Iron Falcon

I just looked at the cleric. I don't know if you would want to do this, due to consistency with the original game. However, there is the possibility of adding a few more levels of cleric. Something like this: Acolyte Deacon Priest Curate Vicar Archdeacon Monsegnor Bishop Archbishop Patriarch That gi...

Re: Quasi-North American Fantasy Lands

Note that some minor clans are quite woodsy in their inclinations. They work as lumberjacks, carpenters, wainwrights, or maple harvesters. Some of these woodland oriented dwarves lead a more isolationist life wandering the wilds as mountain-men trapping for fur, prospecting for new mines or other w...

Re: Quasi-North American Fantasy Lands

Orcs will go back to their earlier roots (such as how they looked in 1e Monster Manual) and have the porcine aspect more prominent, as tusk-toothed almost boar-men. They will somewhat share the more "native" qualities that the elves use. Except pigs aren't native to North America. They were introdu...

Re: Requests to Change the Rules

There are rules lawyers everywhere. Really, if you want to make a change to the game, then change it in your house rules. I don't run it "as is" myself, but I stick pretty close to it "as written". To me, it embodies the old school, while adding just enough of the new to make it different. The game ...

Re: OT - Anyone Else trying out Windows10?

The State of North Carolina just went to Windows 7 from XP, so I have to live with it. I'm typing from my laptop with Ubuntu 14.04 on it. My wife has a new computer with Window 7 on it, and I'm slowly trying to convert her, but she just HAS to have her coupons from a site that only recognizes Window...

Guitar, bass and banjo. I like quite a few genre's of music, so can't point out just one. I play folk, contemporary Christian and olde time (precurser to bluegrass).

Re: Balanced starting party for Morgansfort Old Island Fortress?

Yeah, when I did the New Year game, I had a near TPK with the pit near the Kobold lair. They all survived their fall, but the Ooze got them. The only one left standing was the half-ogre who didn't fall in the pit.
