Re: Are Magic-Users Too Weak?

Hywaywolf,

My games are much the same. Not all battles nor are they long periods of puzzles and riddles. There is a balance to all of it. Great feedback, much appreciated.

Re: Are Magic-Users Too Weak?

Hywaywolf - said, "If you give MUs offensive weapons like unlimited magic darts (and using the INT score makes them pretty much unlimited) then new MUs don't learn to think like MUs, they learn to think like weak vulnerable fighters who happen to have a hand grenade or two in their pocket." This is ...

Re: Are Magic-Users Too Weak?

In short - YEP! However, when they gain levels they start to become much more sustainable and potent. This is the main reason I asked the question on an earlier post, "how many spells can a spellcaster cast per day"? The answer was simply the same number of times as the the number of spells they hav...

Re: Genesis of the cleric class

Great question. In the Basic Fantasy RPG I try and work with players. With Clerics specifically, I and the player will discuss the "Faith" of the cleric. From this we will determine the faith perspective and the deity's characteristics. Depending on how the player shapes his/her character will deter...

Re: Sub-Classes

I beleive you based this on the Background and Specialties supplement, I recomend you to mantain the Specialties theme in order to avoid confusion with sub-classes (rangers, druids, assasins, etc are sub-classes pe se). As per the benefits, some of them give more than one benefit (compared with the...

Sub-Classes

Hello all ! My groups has been up and running for almost a month already. Feels good to be back in the DM seat. I have been developing sub-classes with the group and would like you feedback (honestly). I do not want them to be over powered nor too far out in left field. Sooo, here goes nothing... Su...

Re: Basic Fantasy RPG Core Rules 3rd Edition

Honestly man ! Your hard work and the work of so many have done this game justice and then more. I recently started a Meetup.com group "Joplin Old School D&D". We are meeting every Tuesday night and I have nothing but praise for the system as it stands. Bravo!

Re: Move + Cast?

How I do the Move + Cast and even the Move + Attack for that matter, is to allow 1/2 their normal movement and still be able to cast or attack. However, I also use the 'charge' where full movement can be made + attack. This doubles a normal hit (triples a natural 20 roll) - but leaves the charger, s...

How many times can a spell caster cast per day?

I am not sure if I am missing this or not. I am old, blind and almost bald so it is highly likely that I have overlooked the answer to my question. Can anyone enlighten me ?
