Re: Removal of Deities (and Clerics) in our game

Interesting... Being Catholic I understand the feelings in regard to polytheistic beliefs with powers in games. I just stick to the fact its fiction... After all, J.R.R. Tolkein was a devout Catholic and instrumental in bringing C.S. Lewis into faith from atheism... What do we see in Middle Earth? M...

Re: More Hex Paper!

Alright, emailed the base files. I included all of them just so they all can be reviewed, edited, and/or converted to whatever format seems to fit the need for general distribution. That, and I also updated my DA Gallery: GIMP .xcf: http://sudsysutherland.deviantart.com/art/five-eighths-inch-hex-GIM...

More Hex Paper!

I just happen to be an avid wargamer as well as getting into RPG's. A few years ago I spent some time doing some trial and error learning of the FOSS vector editor Inkscape (therefore it was mostly error on my part), and created a US Letter size sheet of paper with 5/8" inch hexes for use with 1/2" ...

Re: other Basic games

BFRPG, and the SRD its based off of, does indeed have a great character generation system. I do like BFRPG and other OSR systems because it simplifies the massive "Tome of Rules" that seems to encourage the Lawyers more than Players... Character attributes shine as well as the HP and Saving Throws, ...

Open Office/Libre Office Calc Help/Tutorial?

Specifically, does anyone know of a good tutorial for game masters? After all, wouldn't it be nice to have a basic tutorial on how to build a quick spreadsheet with some quick reference items from a gamers point of view? I've used Excel for some items professionally on a real basic level, and I just...

Re: other Basic games

I ran across "Stars Without Number" recently... Its got the Moldvay Basic feel for the characters, the OSR minimized skill list, and a very Traveller world/sector generation feel with some decent space ship and vehicle combat/design rules thrown in. My only issue, even though you can pick it up for ...

Re: Welcome to the new Basic Fantasy RPG Forums!

Greetings! I'm a relative new coming to Fantasy RPG's having spent most of my game time playing historical and SF wargames in the past as well as some SF RPG's (mostly Traveller and WEG D6 Star Wars) growing up. I kinda stumbled across the OSR a couple years back and have enjoyed the results! Figure...
