Re: How do you manage strongholds?

I don't like using a lot of different subsystems in my fantasy roleplaying games, which is why I love stuff like BFRPG that keep it simple. True, old school D&D had several fully fleshed out minigames for running strongholds, but those rules aren't necessary. Here's my golden rule of BFRPG and othe...

Re: Here we go, 1st session with Morgansfort...any advice?

I'm actually excited about that! Just need to make sure I make it quick and easy for everyone but I LOVE the idea of initiative changing every round... so cool! Don't forget that while the PCs get to add their dexterity bonus to the initiative roll, monsters don't not get such bonus (as far as I've...

Re: Here we go, 1st session with Morgansfort...any advice?

I ran that type of scenario back a few years ago for a Halloween game as an introduction to gaming for some never played before players. It was an in person game so I had various sound tracks lined up for ambient music, low level lighting when needed, etc... The players had fun and they still game l...

Re: Here we go, 1st session with Morgansfort...any advice?

Thank you Metro!!! Whats funny is this group has just started the IceSpire peak adventure from DnD essentials and stopped on a cow retrieval mission... lol, would be funny to send them on another one. Actually I love the ideas you guys have given to add this extra 'mission' element, I feel that was...

Re: Here we go, 1st session with Morgansfort...any advice?

For the first session, if they are new to OSR or the hobby, encourage them to always consider the option of retreating from an encounter rather than fight. Not all encounters need to be combat, just saying. I would recommend giving them a simple adventure. It might be a dungeon crawl like you mentio...

Re: Forums on mobile devices

I noticed that depending on the rotation of the phone's screen, verticle or horizontal, the layout changes.

Vertical does not have the return button but if the phone is rotated to horizontal it does.

Thanks so much. I suspect the differences are minor, but was curious. Heck, you could use almost any old school or OSR product and still be pretty close.
I actually do that.

Re: 2E BFRPG vs 3E

I don't have links handy but from what I can remember reading the scattered bits on the forum, it is mostly typos and layout editing that is the main changes between the two. Solomoriah has commented many times that 3rd edition is backwards compatible with the older editions.

Re: Anyone tried to play BFRPG on Roll20?

I have created a character sheet labeled "Dungeon X level X" and put static info as a Token macro in the ability tab then assign a transparent token that has a GM only aura so that any of the room descriptions can be sent to the chat with a press of a button.
