Re: Ability checks

You must have never strung a bow. It is not for the unitiated ;) Honestly, I do not even know what to make of the portion of the rule book that you just quoted. I do not understand what it is saying (it's like a foreign language). I think that is the reason why I came up with my own method. If any o...

Ability checks

So, I just wanted to know if I am doing this right or if I am the only one doing this sort of thing with abilities in game. Often times, when the players ask to do something, I try to determine what skill it would involve. For example, if a player finds a bow but it is not strung yet, I have them ro...

Re: Question about BFRPG wilderness maps

I've just started doing all mine by hand too. I wanted my maps to look more professional and mimic the ones found in BFRPG material, specifically J.D. Neal's stuff. But messing around looking at a computer screen is something that I am trying to do less of these days. I found some printable black an...

Re: Question about BFRPG wilderness maps

Thanks. I love his maps.

I plan on getting a drawing tablet soon and I guess I will draw them on that. J.D.'s are really nice and I appreciate how easy it is for the GM to use them.

Question about BFRPG wilderness maps

I asked this in a thread but thought that I would ask it here as well. I have noticed that all of the wilderness maps in the BFRPG modules are the same format. I really like this format and would like to duplicate it in my own maps. Is there program that is used (I noticed that all of the trees, etc...

Re: JN1 The Chaotic Caves

I am currently running this module and was wondering: what sort of program was used to make the wilderness maps. I really like the style. It is easy to read and to use as a GM.

I would like to make something similar for my own wilderness maps. Thanks!

Increasing difficulty in modules/ adventures

So, I have been getting a lot of ideas from/ converting old modules from Dungeon magazine (and a few from Dragon Magazine). A lot of the best adventures are 1-2 level adventures. But some of my folks are leveling up and will soon need a little more challenge. Honestly, the lower level adventures are...

Use of dragons in adventures

I am sort of a newb when it comes to the RPG thing and have only played a few written modules (all BFRPG). I have noticed that dragons are ultra powerful. And they should be, their frickin' dragons. My question is: How do they get incorporated into adventures? Do they only get used when playing with...

Re: World Guide

I'm completely with what others have said. I like the mystery of not knowing what is beyond the next town, village, wilderness, dessert, etc. I am the GM for my son and his teenage group of friends and it is great to see their enjoyment at discovering new places. Some of them play in a different gro...

Re: When a character dies

As a house rule, I am thinking about implementing a rule in which those who are depleted of a HP can roll a Save vs. death but even if they survive they are mortally wounded and must roll 2 d20 to determine the hours that they can live before receiving some form of healing (i.e. 2 d20 rolls that equ...
