Re: Sneak Attack

One more thing, is it safe to assume that a thief will usually only be able to backstab ONCE during a combat? I'm sure this is debatable but my reason for asking is it seems to me once the thief comes out of hiding every monster will know he is there and be watchful of him trying to backstab again. ...

Re: Staff of Striking question

pg 139 says: A staff found in a treasure hoard will have 3d10 charges remaining. Spell effects generated by a staff operate at 8th level, or the lowest caster level the spell could be cast by, whichever is higher, unless otherwise stated. Staves are usable only by Magic-Users, except where noted. P...

Staff of Striking question

Hi there, one of my players received this item during a recent session. The issue is I have no idea how many charges it contains. Do I decide that myself? Also what kind of staff is it? The character that received it is a halfling cleric and halflings can't use weapons that are LARGE in size such as...

Re: Diagonal squares and distance

Diagonally, that's about 28 feet (28.2842712475 more precisely) compared to moving two 10' squares vertically or horizontally. It's a non-trivial difference mathematically, but if it's negligible to you and slows down your game unreasonably to accommodate for diagonals, just consider any two square...

Re: Assassins Supplement

Yea I find that the assassin has always been a difficult class to implement without stepping the toes of the thief. The biggest issue for the assassin is not being able to remove traps. That's pretty huge and his poison skill which makes up for that loss has to be limited due to how lethal it is. No...

Re: Sneak Attack

Yes, he adds his level to the d10 roll For opponents with HD or Level, use that value, against traps and others... using Saladin idea would require a kind of Dungeon Level... maybe using the adventure's suggested level? Other than that, is up to the GM Open Locks 70% Remove Traps 60% Pick Pockets 6...

Diagonal squares and distance

On a standard dungeon map where one square=10' does two diagonal squares still count as 20' when calculating distance? So can my fighter with only a combat movement of 20' move two diagonal squares?

Re: Sneak Attack

Dimirag, can you explain the first option a bit more? I'm talking about the d10+lvl vs d10+ lvl one you mentioned. The thief rolls a d10, ads his level and if the result is equal or better than 10+opposition level its a success. Instead of adding ten times the thief's level the d10 allows you to ad...

Re: Assassins Supplement

1. Poison skill. Is the percentage the chance of successfully making the poison? So could you spend 500-1000gp or so to get the ingredients to then turn around and fail making the poison? I take it as the chance of making a poison from ingredients, the 500gp+ cost is for poisons already made. Maybe...

Re: Sneak Attack

I wanted to add that what I did with my level 1 thief in the beginning was allow him to use all the optional thief options including losing the leather armor for a 10% boost as well as the bonuses for being a halfling and adjustments from attributes. I also allowed the 30pt allocation option as desc...
