Re: Sneak Attack

Thief does not get to attack twice in one round. The backstab starts round one. The opponent gets to act that round as well unless they are surprised. They won't be surprised in both the first and second round. Even if the rest of your party burst in at the start of round 2 they won't be surprised,...

Re: Sneak Attack

Let me quote a question made by someone else from Dragonsfoot forums that reflects exactly what I'm confused about here... So lets say a thief has silently entered a dungeon room inhabited by an orc unnoticed. He successfully performs a backstab on the unsuspecting orc. The orc is injured but not de...

Re: Sneak Attack

I would say the surprise round goes with the thief backstab attack. If the bad guys are not surprised they all get to attack the thief that round. Except the MU who died, but if he didn't die he gets to attack the same round. Oh okay. So you're saying the backstab is the actual surprise round itsel...

Re: PCMatic Beta Testing

Brief testing shows it's working ok for me. Solo will likely want to know the following (and likely more when he replies): 1. What OS are you using? 2. What browser are you using (please give exact version number too)? 3. Is your browser set to save cookies, etc.? 4. Do you have any browser plug-in...

Re: Sneak Attack

Its all situational. You have to just look at the scenario and decide for yourself if its possible. Thats what old school DMs do. Say the goblin thief was in a dark niche and waits for his goblin pals to smash their way in firing crossbows. The PC party all jump up and face the incoming horde. The ...

Re: Sneak Attack

Look at it from the other perspective when trying to decide how to play something out. Instead of teh scenario is the party attacking someone, do it like this ... Waiting 20' down a hall outside a room is a party of goblins and one of them is a thief type character. The thief decides to go in first...

Re: Sneak Attack

So after my backstab lands, the surprise round is over? Doesn't the rest of my party get to take a turn first before the surprise round ends? I guess I'm getting confused.

Re: Sneak Attack

Thanks again for the feedback. So if the thief achieves surprise by the backstab, does that one attack count as his surprise round action? Example: Party is waiting 20' down the hall from a room that contains a pair of Bugbears. The thief decides to go in first. He peers around the corner into the r...

Re: Sneak Attack

Should I limit the thief to one backstab per combat... The above idea is to allow as many backstab as wanted, the thief not will be able to do it always, and could end up spending time just waiting... If you want to limit it, once per combat per opponent sounds ok and is how its done on some games,...

Re: PCMatic Beta Testing

I hope this thread is still monitored. But anyways I'm using the PCMatic and I'm noticing the program doesn't save all my entries I make on the character sheet. I keep reloading the same character and several entries always appear missing.
