Seduction skill
Basic questions 1. Do you feel BFRPG is a game meant only for kids tho introduce them to other role-playing games? 2. Or, do you feel BFRPG is a gateway rpg for all ages, including adults? 3. Or, do you feel BFRPG is a complete standalone game, not just to introduce players to dog, but to play for l...

Re: Bounty Hunter
Giving bounty hunters the option to waylay with a wrestling hold is a really bad idea. Assassinate and backstab requires sneaking up on a target which is not already possible in many situations. Wrestling doesn't require any surprise or sneak attack. Further, once a wrestling attack is successful, t...

Re: Roguish Skills
I know ability checks are optional, but they do highlight a couple thief skills that area are really low for thieves. Find traps.......... -as for level one thief class skill: base 20% to find traps. Nothing says they can find magical traps. -as per std rules: Anyone without this thief skill has a 1...

Re: Jumping
I like the rule letting characters jump over one square(a 5' gorge) with a standing broad jump, and jump over 3 squares (15') with a running jump. Jumping 10' means safely jumping over a square (a 5' gorge). jumping 20' means safely jumping over 3 squares (a 15' gorge). I would make this jump automa...

Re: Roguish Skills
Another reason to use d12: it is easy to convert 1d6 chances on a 1d12. Things that the rules would have you would roll a 1d6 for: 1. rolling for surprise 2. rolling for finding secret or concealed doors 3. rolling to find a magical trap 4. opening a stuck door 5. listening at doors 6. roll to detec...

Re: Roguish Skills
Instead of replacing all percentiles with a d6, I would suggest the d12.
Smaller increments. More room for improvement. Less chance of failure when mastered.
Most of all, the d12 is the most under utilized die.

Re: Roguish Skills
Let's flesh out the forgery skill. Forgery isn't just for lotto tickets. It's highly valued by spies. In that sense, it should be expanded to include cryptology. Both encrypting and decrypting. Let's rename the skill the "forge and cipher" skill. It lets you a) recognize hidden messages, b...

Re: Roguish Skills
A follow-up note on extra languages. while A low level thief would rely on picking pockets, a high level thief would find it much more profitable to engage in smuggling. Learning extra languages would go a long way in helping a smuggler. That said, I really don't like putting a percentage chance to ...

Re: Roguish Skills
I like the idea of a disguise skill, but please ditch the disguise kit. Slapping on a fake mustache and some eye shadow isn't a disguise. A disguise is a complete change of wardrobe, usually involving uniforms. So Unless that 5 pound disguise kit holds a complete ensemble of clothes that normally fi...

Re: Arrows
Fears that barbed arrow heads make goblins too powerful are unfounded. Goblins, and kobolds and troglodytes, are among the weakest opponents party members can face. Giving them a special weapon will make these boring encounters more interesting. Furthermore, it allows goblins to capture bigger foes,...
