Re: Basic Fantasy RPG Core Rules 4th Edition
Giant, Cloud Page 98-99 In the final paragraph of the description: (emphasis added) ... A favorite tactic is to circle the enemies, barraging them with rocks while the giants with magical abilities confound them with spells. ... Shouldn't "the" be "their?" It isn't incorrect as ...

Re: Halfling Thief Hiding?
Metro has my interpretation as well.
Only an exceedingly high level halfling thief would better than their innate ability.

Re: Multiclassing in Basic Fantasy vs AD&D
Martin, I knew you would provide the mathematical comparison. :D Seems that even the somewhat poor comparisons are at least "near to the mark", perhaps enough for players that want the specific pool of abilities (from the combo) for their character concept to pay the XP. Things I suggest i...

Re: Multiclassing in Basic Fantasy vs AD&D
I houseruled the BFRPG method for my games. The formula is pretty basic: Class XP + Class XP = Subtotal (Subtotal/# Classes) * 50% = Combo XP total The reasoning for this is the fact you are using only the best of the classes which means half of the classes are ignored hence the Averaging of Class ...

Re: Multiclassing in Basic Fantasy vs AD&D
It works... it is weird when one really digs in. Separate XP tracking, odd calculations for HP, etc. I find it clumsy and inelegant compared to the general BFRPG method of combine XP and use best of each class. The only situations that break or are weird is the combos that just do not jive (ie F/Th ...

Re: A setting for BFRPG
Sounds excellent to me. Pseudo-Viking in both geography and your cultural descriptions. As one who also uses much Norse in my games, I am very interested in how you continue to develop the region.

Re: Hit Points and Recovery Rate
Also unfair that weakling MU bounces back much faster than a robust Fighter.... I address this by the base rate of healing is 1point for classes w d4 HD, 2 points for classes w d6 HD, and 3 points for d8 classes. I generally add Constitution bonus to the daily heal as well. Not perfect, but puts a l...

Re: Can DISPEL MAGIC reverse FLESH TO STONE?
While I agree with Dimirag in general about permanent effects (such as the mentioned healing spells), this is a situation where I would probably allow Dispel Magic if cast within a reasonable time frame from when the Flesh to Stone spell was cast. I would likely allow the Dispeller to cast within a ...

Re: I saw the movie
So, got a chance to watch the movie via a totally bootleg site because I still refuse to endorse WotC with my actual money.... ... that said, I found the movie very entertaining overall. A fun ride and filled with cool D&D (and/or more specifically Forgotten Realms) lore. I liked how much they r...
