Re: Sneak Attack

I would only allow Assassination against living beings, not undead, constructs, etc. Nor would I allow assassination against essentially non-humanoid living beings. No dragon assassinations, etc. Basically, I see Assassination as a specialized skill used in, that's right, the elimination of specific...

Re: Solo campaigns?

Hello and welcome to the community. What do you mean by solo play? Just yourself or you and one other? This is my query as well. Not sure how one would handle truly "by oneself" gaming. If speaking about one GM and one Player, then it would really just require trimming down encounters, increasing p...

Re: Stat arrays

You might do a quick forum search for Smoot's House Rules. SmootRK posted some nice house rules, with a lot of cool options. One of those being the stat array options he uses for his games. Yes. I play with children (mostly mine), and especially when they were much younger, the fairness of all gett...

Re: Sneak Attack

I have never understood why GMs allow "hide" to be used when determining if a thief can sneak behind an opponent. A thief hiding in shadows must remain still for this ability to work. If you hide and the enemy moves past you then yes I see it, but all to often I see a thief deciding he is going to ...

Re: Sneak Attack

I am with orobouros for basically his entire post.

If I were to re-write the rules on this, I would change the wording here: "The GM will usually require a Move Silently or Hide roll to determine this."

Re: Some Magic Items

Such a supplement might be a good spot for the Sentient Weapons to get folded into as well.

Re: Some Magic Items

I produced a stand-alone supplement some time ago with a whole new class of magical items. "Spell Channeling Items: A Basic Fantasy Supplement" found in the main downloads area. If it feels right to relocate and incorporate the idea into a bigger Magic Items Supplement, then I am certainly cool with...

Re: Basic Fantasy Field Guide 2

Question: Who submitted the Armorer? I'm reviewing FG2, and I'm having a hard time understanding exactly how this monster is supposed to work. Rather than rewriting it as I'm guessing it's supposed to be, I'm hoping for clarification (maybe some examples) from the submitter so I can get it right. N...

Re: 0 Level Spells

From the GM perspective, I think they're a great addition. In my opinion, they allow creative MU players a way to offset their class's weakness at low level without unbalancing the game at higher levels. This is about my take on this too. Allows the MU to do various magical things (if just for mino...
