Re: Arrows

Fears that barbed arrow heads make goblins too powerful are unfounded. Goblins, and kobolds and troglodytes, are among the weakest opponents party members can face. Giving them a special weapon will make these boring encounters more interesting. Furthermore, it allows goblins to capture bigger foes...

Such as this? :D

It's not quite the same, but it is fairly similar.

Re: Feats?

My friend's rules went like this: "I just let my players home brew stuff, and adjusted balance so nothing would be more powerful than a +2 ability score increase, and gave feats at level multiples of 4. I also gave the option of just increasing an ability by +2 at these levels." Note he had other ho...

Re: Feats?

That's an interesting document Was it ever expanded on? Not that I know of. It needs to be in the BFRPG format at a minimum. Many of the feats make no sense mechanically in the context of BFRPG. As Orobouros said, They're just straight up house rules to advantage the players. Go with what works for...

Re: Feats?

There is also this:
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1866&p=52134&hilit=Feat#p52134
Although it is incomplete.

I also have a friend who used something akin to feats in his game. I'll ask him more about it, and share that with you.

Re: Arrows

First: I don't see how changing the scale of the grid affects bow ranges. The ranges listed in the core rule book are in feet (yards for out of doors), so changing the grid scale from 10 feet to 5 feet should only change the number of squares a bow covers, not how far it actually goes. Second: I agr...

Re: Some Magic Items

I don't know if they'd fall under "magic" or "specialty" weapons but I'd like to see a degree of weapon differentiation between regular weapons. Say a rapier that does 1d6 damage but is +2 vs chain or plate mail. I think that would fall better under the Misc. Ideas thread, which you can find here: ...

Re: Some Magic Items

I'm uploading the list I've made for the deck of conjuring here with my own additions, and to help spark some more interest in it. You can find the original post here: http://www.basicfantasy.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1588 If you would like to contribute to the list please post to that thread,...

Re: Some Magic Items

A few magical weapons I've been using, or plan to use, in my games. Recurrence : 5 times per day this short sword +1 allows it's user to make an extra attack on their turn. Both attacks must be made with Recurrence . Shadow Steel : 5 times per day this dagger +2 allows it's user to turn invisible fo...
