"Bestow Curse" Question

When reading through the "Bestow Curse" spell (the reverse of "Remove Curse"), I became a bit confused. Hopefully, someone can clear up something for me. The spell's duration is listed as "Instantaneous", which makes sense when removing a curse ... but does not make sense when considering the effect...

You can also house-rule that spell-casters may not use their "bonus" spells to double (or triple) up on Sleep spells; i.e. those bonus slots must be used for different spells.

Personally, I do like the Turning Undead table as is, but for those who want a different approach, perhaps you might consider house-ruling a "T" effect as a specific small range of hp damage inflicted (if successful) per level of the Cleric, while a "D" effect would be a higher amount of damage infl...
