Some people play them mechanically, that is, a fighter that can heal. Others get into this whole deity thing. It's largely a matter of personal taste.

There is nothing wrong with allowing players to advance their increase their ability scores as they advance levels. What? You can fire a heavy crossbow from horseback. It's just very difficult to reload one.

Anyone with the minimum amount of training can hit a target the size of their hand every time. If the caster doesn't move, they die.

The way I play, caster cannot move more than 1/2 pace (about 1 yard) and they can dodge at a -4 penalty. After all, they're suppose to be concentrating on the spell.
