Re: Map(s)

Dymond, sounds good. I had no real idea what the bigger world looked like, so I was just having fun. I'll start with just a Barony map, then work on the world map. If you could, just sketch something (even if just in Paint) to give me an idea of placement and scale relationship of the Dragonclaws to...

Re: Map(s)

Dymond, here is a concept map for you. Lemme know what you think about the world. I put Dragonclaw in the lower right. I don't like the mountains or lake... those are just there as placeholders. The grid is approx 5 hex's on your hex map so, 100 mile grid. I'll play with it more tomorrow. If you onl...

Re: Map(s)

I'm always up for a challenge! PM me your email, and we can discuss offline the particulars... your "play area" map seems to be just a part of a larger continent... which is part of a larger world. We can start with the visible area first :) The below map is for conceptual purposes only... I was pla...

Re: Map(s)

I've been doing some mapping (learning Photoshop). Here is a free map for anyone to use. Populate as you see fit :)

This map was made following the tutorial over at Cartographers Guild: (http://www.cartographersguild.com/)

Re: Basic Fantasy RPG Core Rules 3rd Edition

That is a good catch. I would make it a tad more explicit as "if a spellcaster is successfully attacked or otherwise struck in combat (including magical effects) on the Initiative number on which he or she is casting a spell, the spell is spoiled and lost." I like the word "interrupted". If he is h...

Re: Basic Fantasy RPG Core Rules 3rd Edition

Another *stat* to consider... Age. Normally it may be used or not, and most GMs and players don't pay much attention to Age until a player is affected by something age-related. Some considerations for using Age: -Raise Dead spell (pg 30) "The spell cannot bring back a creature that has died of old a...

Re: Basic Fantasy RPG Core Rules 3rd Edition

Will need a bit of an edit. Let's see... Armor Class (AC) indicates the difficulty of successfully landing a damaging blow on a character or creature in combat. Higher AC numbers indicate higher difficulty. All normal characters have a base (minimum) AC of 11, which will be adjusted by armor, shiel...

Re: Basic Fantasy RPG Core Rules 3rd Edition

I like it. I purposely didn't say Dexterity "bonus" since there might be a Dex penalty. Maybe instead, "Dexterity modifier"?

For placement, the next logical place (IMO) would be as you suggest on/near page 11 right before the Armor and Shields Table.

Re: Basic Fantasy RPG Core Rules 3rd Edition

Concerning Armor Class... As I looked at differing old school RPGs, I happened across this amazing gem! One question came to mind, and I wondered how AC was handled (low vs. high numbers). And when I did a search for it, alas, there is no definition or explanation of AC. While it is implied in the A...
