Re: Questions about Retainers

Thanks everyone! 1) Yeah, that makes sense. Going to only roll when it makes sense as you all stated. 2) Ended up having the player control the actions of the retainer, subject to my veto. The player was good about giving an order and then asking out of character if the retainer does it/refuses/etc....

Questions about Retainers

Hello everyone! I have two questions about retainers, regarding loyalty and combat. 1) I understand that loyalty is basically morale and should be rolled as such; just wondering if this includes at the start of an encounter as well. It just seems like 7 morale is fairly low and that there's a decent...

Re: BFRPG IRC

roll20 has some new nifty features. The GM can now drag and drop his players onto different maps now so that now allows him to split the party up but the down side is there is no individual chat box. Do the players only see the map they're on? I've done that, but I have to switch back and forth- an...

Re: BFRPG IRC

The only thing useful about an irc chat is that its always open and no one person has control of the room. Roll20 can be straight text chat but there is only one DM and it can't be shared unless you want to share the entire GMs roll20 account. When a DM creates a campaign you can promote other play...

Re: Music for Gaming

For in-game music I use soundtracks from great videogames- I currently have the World of Warcraft Soundtracks, Elder Scrolls (Skyrim and Oblivion), and Guild Wars 2. WoW has an entirely Tavern soundtrack which is great- some sound more like a port city, some like a large urban area, more rural taver...

Re: saving Throws and other issues

Tis true. That's why I always get stuck DMing people. Fortunately, I'm one of the rare people who likes DMing more than playing. Same here! That's how I ended up DMing almost every game I have played in for 3.5, and for every game of BFRPG I've been a part of... I'm not complaining though ;) The DM...

Re: BFRPG IRC

I think a lot of IRC games have gone away in favor of virtual tabletops, especially since Roll20 has become so prominent. I do both my BFRPG game and 3.5 game on there because I can do prep whenever I want throughout the week, and my players are all scattered about geographically. One thing I love a...

Re: [Meta] Can we make a general newbie questions thread?

As someone who is somewhat "new" to BFRPG (or rather, still has system-specific questions) but is an experienced player/DM, I think it makes more sense to do this: BFRPG/RPG: Newb Questions, BFRPG discussions, system general discussions (such as DMing tips, how to do X or Y in general) And...

Re: Back again/a few more questions...

Wizard-locked doors: I would treat it as a locked door with a die higher for dificulty, a locked and wizard lock door would be a 1+STR bonus on a d12. I'd never put a wizard lock on anything less than a really chunky door, stone or iron or the like. 1d12 sounds good to me, as well. 1 attempt only. ...
