Re: Are humans really this bad? Looking for alternate bonuses.

There's always the option of using the "race with levels" supplement. It makes demihumans start with lesser bonuses and special abilities and earn xp in order for them to increase.

Re: Are humans really this bad? Looking for alternate bonuses.

If I'm not mistaken, a max level (12) dwarf had better savings that a 25th level fighter. I think their bonuses come not from their physical or mental abilities but from their nature itself, dwarves are naturally resistant to magic, that's why they can't be magic users (and in some games have troubl...

Re: Sneak Attack

I've always played as doubling the weapon damage not including any magical bonus, so, instead of
(1d4+3)x2 it becomes 1d4x2+3 but other GMs can use different rulings

Re: Are humans really this bad? Looking for alternate bonuses.

The human-centric works if the GM puts those kinds of modifiers or give penalties on specific situation (reaction rolls, finding specific equipment, etc), but this is completely GM biased. Re: Defining what Preparing Spells mean

The game uses spell slots that are filled with specific spells. Once the spell is used is no longer available (along with the corresponding slot).

Each new day every slot not containing a spell is recovered, and can thus be filled again with specific spells.

Re: Awarding XP

I award XP as soon as earn, after an encounter, at the of the session or when the characters reach a safe place, depending on my mood about keeping numbers hehe

Characters can level up once they are on a safe place.

Re: 2 Questions

He actually got a less powerful cloak, the BFRPG one should appear on adventures with higher levels.
Its a good idea to compare magical objects between games to avoid involuntary power scaling.

Re: 2 Questions

That's a basic d&d adventure right?
From what I've read, that cloak stops hiding the character if the attacks or moves swiftly and requires 1 turn until it can be activated again.

Re: 2 Questions

Even if he's running everywhere, there is a 10% chance that he is seen and a 20% that he is heard, also, lots of monsters are "immune" to backstabbing, and there are other monsters that don't rely on sight... If the Thief is running I would increase his chances of being heard, if he has the elven bo...
